Hello,

I was about to send in a book to this outfit and wanted to check one last time online to see what others thought of them.  I used them for a quick judgement on the book 4 years ago-they said likely to be genuine and then I forgot about it.  I've read a lot of things about them that are making me reconsider using them.

I am not sure I should trust them?  It's for a 1948 L. Ron Hubbard book.  Does anyone have any suggestions for a place to use for authentication and appraisal of this science fiction book?

Thank you!

They take your $$ and in turn give you a piece of paper stating its authentic... doesn't really mean it is, but they'll give you one.

Find someone who deals in science fiction autographs, someone on here will know who to ask.

But I would stay away from the company you mention.  Seen them pass off a lot of fake Michael Jackson stuff.

It doesn't look right imo

Dave, just stay away from AMA. Back on Nov. 1, 2014, I started a long discussion about a Babe Ruth baseball that they authenticated. The autograph was clearly a forgery, but bidding got over $10,000 on it, until eBay finally pulled the auction. PSA/DNA would never have passed that. Here is a link to that discussion. They also authenticated another Ruth that was actually a known secretarial in another auction.

If I were you, I would probably just get a quick opinion from PSA/DNA for $15. Then if they say it's likely genuine, I would probably send it to them for a full LOA.
Thank you everyone for all your help! I'm glad I didn't use them. The site isn't even up anymore!
