Al Pacino signed Dick Tracy "Big Boy" Toy: Can it be authenticated?

Larry Grobel, a writer for Autograph Magazine, was good friends with Al Pacino for many years. Larry would have Al sign all sorts of things, including a Scarface script shirt I purchased from him.

A few years ago I bought this Big Boy toy Al signed for him, for a lot of money because I've never seen one before, but the autograph is so unusual that I wonder if it can be authenticated.

What do you think? Does it look like Pacino signed it to you?

Here's the Scarface shirt I bought from Larry:

And a Scarface DVD and a photo Larry gave me:

The shirt, DVD and photo are dead on balls accurate. "It's an industry term!"

The Al part of the toy is right on as well.....I don't think that the remainder is necessarily "Pacino" ....probably more likely BigBoy or some salutation.

Al starts his A on an upward movement of his pen, far more clear in the other 3 samples, but looking at a blow up of the toy ....that upstroke is there just hiding under or alongside the downstroke.

Really not sure what the second word is , but the Al part is pretty strong evidence that the toy is real.

Thanks, Pete...that's a huge relief! I knew it was good, but sometimes it's hard to prove it.

Any idea what it might be worth? Thanks

Value is tough on something like this. I don't recall seeing another sell in the past, and the film is either loved or hated.

With Pacino doing semi-regular signings and giving decent graphs, his value from even 3 or 4 years ago isn't holding.

Only true novices are paying the prices being asked on ebay.  Most are only selling for half of the asking price or less.

Good fuller signature Pacinos are selling for under $200. That's on nice 11x14 adn larger Scarface & Godfather images.

Thanks, Pete. I think I'll be holding Big Boy for a long time.

While I know nothing about AP autographs I think that shirt is the type of item that would attract interest at any time! The shirt is an unusual but visually appealing item and Scarface is a film loved by many and the signature and inscriptions only add to it's desirability IMO.

Thanks, Karl. I love the shirt...I have no idea what it's worth, but I paid plenty for it and felt it was worth it. I doubt I'll lose money on it, unlike the toy.

Hi Steve,

Lovely shirt! He looks like he just drank milk ;) I know its probably not milk...but you know, Bowie loved milk and ...what did Blondie call it in that song from the dance floor scene? Yayo? Great awful movie! I love Welles The Trial, The Third Man from the UK, but every now and then I just have to see Tony take Frank's wife and most of the cash in Miami.

"Elivira, you...you want Elvira?"...

Eric

"Milk...it does Montana good!"
