I purchased the signature on an EBAY auction recently...red flag #1? It came with a "COA" from an outfit called www.onlinecoa.co.uk...red flag #2? I am certainly no Einstein about his signature, but to me it seems to at least resemble other Einstein examples I looked at....red flag #3?! It is a card signature cut into a mat so no examination of Einstein's backside.

If anyone has some idea about his signature, I would greatly appreciate it.

Too many sigs by the greatest scientists are being sold on ebay. Niels Bohr, Planck, Madame Curie or Heisenbergs' coloured cuttings with their signature and also some signed books are being forged lately. Your auto seems to be one of them and now it's risky to buy one of these cuttings. You should send it to PSA for authentication as they will tell you if it's printed, bad or authentic. An Einstein like yours goes to at least for $3000 if genuine... If I were you, I would have it authenticated by PSA... but I'm afraid it's not good.

PSA really wants too much $$$ for their sticker. I did submit it to several "digital" verification outfits, who uniformly stated it was close, but no cigar. While not true authentication certainly, I think I can make a good case for a refund. As an attorney, I forgot the cardinal rule Caviat Emptor.

Thanks for your reply FRAN

Red flag #3 is that equation sitting there. Just too optimal. And all that hyperbole and low price...cuts stuck in books  - better to find a nice genuine or something with context. $150 is not a bad fee if you need that sort of service. That linked "COA" site...ugh...(your link needs fixing - the "red"  is working as part of the link so I removed it so get there)...

"Does OnlineCOA authenticate items?

NO. OnlineCOA does NOT authenticate items and is in no way shape or form an authentication company or associated to any authentication company."

Hi Chris,

Einstein signed "A. Einstein" the vast majority of the time. A full name autograph with E=mc² would be highly desirable and probably sell for thousands more than the typical Einstein autograph. They start in the high $2,000s and go up from there.

When did you buy it?
