The Authentic Experience
Have you ever heard of an autograph dealer organization called the Autograph Society of America?
Antiquities of Las Vegas, in Caesar's Palace, and Antiquities of California, in San Francisco on Fisherman's Wharf, claim they're members. And they say that the Autograph Society of America doesn't recognize opinions of PSA/DNA, JSA or REAL (Roger Epperson) as support for refunds, because they will not guarantee their opinions. So therefore, Antiquities does not recognize those authenticators for refunds under their "Lifetime Guarantee of Authenticity."
Antiquities recognizes Christopher Morales, Don Frangipani and "Col. Myron Ross, retired US Army handwriting certifier."
They used to recognize AAU/Drew Max—the forensic document examiner with the big magnifying glass on Pawn Stars—but they may not anymore.
I have never heard of the Autograph Society of America, except in correspondence between Toby Stoffa and Brian Eick of Antiquities and their customers.
I searched Google, Bing and YAHOO, and I couldn't find the organization.
I asked some long-time dealers and they haven't heard of the organization.
Their proud membership in the Autograph Society of America isn't listed on either Antiquities website.
Have you heard of it? Can you help me find it...or other dealers that are members?
Does the Autograph Society of America really exist?

This is just too rich. LOL
So Christopher Morales, Don Frangipani and Col. Myron Ross guarantee their opinions? Guarantee in what way? Financially?
Permalink Reply by Eli Johnston on January 25, 2012 at 12:22pm Ive never heard of it. Who is the Col.? That's a new one.
Permalink Reply by Mr Zipper on January 25, 2012 at 12:30pm The MO is to trumpet past affiliations to create an appearance of competence and ethics. We allegedly have a former Secret Service Agent, Frangipani was in law enforcement, if I recall correctly, and now a Colonel.
They could really complete the set if they could get a former astronaut or maybe a member of the royal family on board.

Have you ever heard of the Autograph Society of America? Can you ask around?

Permalink Reply by Steve Cyrkin on January 25, 2012 at 12:33pm Myron Ross owns Heroes and Legends in Los Angeles. He's one of the dealers Jerry Gladstone of American Royal Arts claims victimized him by selling him forgeries for years. Don Frangipani is Myron's preferred authenticator.
We kicked him out of the magazine for selling forgeries not long after I bought it. In 2005 I think. The UACC kicked him out of their Registered Dealer program a year or so later.
Permalink Reply by Eli Johnston on January 25, 2012 at 12:52pm Oh yes I know of him. I didn't know he was a Col.
Permalink Reply by Steve Cyrkin on January 25, 2012 at 1:09pm I never heard he was a colonel before I saw that in an email Brian Eick sent a customer. And Myron Ross specifically told me he was not an authenticator.
Brian should have known Myron Ross was kicked out of the UACC RD program, because Brian used to own Iconographs, which is a UACC RD.
