In my research, I have come across a photograph of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and Pres. Ronald Reagan at the White House in 1983. It was calligraphed to Mrs. Thatcher and signed with an Autopen signature of Ronald Reagan. The photograph is in the Thatcher Archives "Importance ranking: Major."

So, if you're ever offered a Reagan signed photograph bearing a calligraphed (written in calligraphy) inscription to anyone, even if it's to an important person (U.S. Senator, cabinet member, etc.), remember this one Autopenned to the British Prime Minister. Just because the recipient is important, it does not mean it's definitely authentic. And that does not apply just to Reagan autographs.
