Hi, I've just joined this site and was wondering if anyone with a greater knowledge of this kind of thing would be able to tell if this was an original signature of Abbott & Costello or a fake. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Gareth.

I am so sorry, but definitely not real in my opinion. Take a look at how slowly signed they are. The actual look is off, too, but when you see something slowly signed there's a very good chance it is not real.

I'm a total amateur at these things. I'm not sure what I'm looking for, it seems similar to mine. I guess I have another fake on my hands.

That's a blow-up of yours so you can see the slowness.

Here's a real Bud Abbott. Notice how smoothly it flows:

Thank you. Lucky I didn't pay too much for it, He seemed reputable though. Hopefully there is at least one item I've posted that comes back as authentic.

I am sorry but I have to agree this is not Bud Abbott.  Normally it is Lou Costello that is fake especially signed photographs since many were secretarial.  There are Costello personal checks that are good.  I would be very careful buying anything other than a check if you are just starting.  As for Abbott there are some very good dealers like Golden Age Autographs and Classic Entertainment Autographs that sometimes have him as well as Costello.

Agree, that is not good unfortunately. I also had a check as my first Costello, signed to the Brown Derby. A liquor bill at the Derby so some interest at least. I see you have not done so well with your postings from your collection - as a fellow Bud and Lou fan, maybe this will bring a small smile. 1952 candid from the Francis and Violet Zane Collection.

Thanks Eric. No I haven't done very well, live and learn. Being an amateur I only collected a few items that had sentimental meaning from growing up. I never spent a fortune and most have hung on my wall for around 15 years so I've had the enjoyment of them at least. This item however being from a reputable trader I thought could have been legitimate.
