I've been thinking about framing my signed "Miles Ahead" LP and wanted to get y'alls opinions on it.

The LP is signed by most everyone who played on "Kind Of Blue" and, as best I can tell from my research, it was probably signed at the Plaza Hotel during a Columbia Records event/concert shortly after Davis had assembled this sextet and only six months before "Kind Of Blue" was recorded.    Only 1 of the "Kind Of Blue" lineup actually played on "Miles Ahead".

So...I'm wondering if I should frame the signed LP with an unsigned cover for "Kind Of Blue" along side it or just the "Miles Ahead" LP as it is?  It seems to me that the rarity of this assemblage of signatures and the relationship to "Kind Of Blue" should be noted in some way.  I'm just not sure how to do it.

Patrick,

I am not a fan of framing items especially a nice piece like this.  I feel distant to the actual piece once its framed.  There's something to say about being able to touch the piece, rather than it being trapped behind glass.  :)

I think you have a great idea. Side by side would look very nice.

That's a good point that a lot of people share, I think.  But...it's going to get framed.  I'm afraid something will happen to it otherwise.   Pluse, I don't like people handling my stuff.  :-)

It'd be large but I think, in a way, it should be.

Frame all the way, side by side.
Sometimes i think items are safer behind glass.
I was thinking of on how to do my vintage Sabbath signed lp because the signatures are on the record sticker. Id place the vertigo cover over the lp and perhaps have the album side by side.
Paul you could do something like this. I just wanted to show the white vinyl. It would work on yours.

Something like that would be alright ,Barry!

Like that.

I like it!

I think the autographs should speak for themselves, I wouldn't mix it with the Kind of Blue Album. I would frame only the particular back cover, maybe together with the front cover of "Miles Ahead" but not with "Kind of Blue". And as Paul said, items are safer behind the right glass. And this is such an extraordinary item-do it. Here is my "Miles Ahead" Album-signed by Miles Davis in 1986 at North Sea Jazz Festival The Hauge, Netherlands.

I would frame with unsigned front cover and in between a 4x6 or 5x7 photo of Davis and under that an engraved plaque like the ones Gallery of History does for some of their matted displays.
