"Grey Gardens" 1975 Documentary "Little" Edie Beale Signed PC August 1987

Hi All,

An unusual item. "Little" Edie Beale signed postcard, sent from Miami Beach in August 1987. Little Edie, and her mother "Big" Edie Bouvier Beale, were the subjects of Albert and David Maysles 1975 award winning documentary Grey Gardens, later made into a Broadway music and then HBO film with Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore. In this postcard, Edie mentions muggings in her building and wanting to get a gun but having no permit. "Too many entrances - Dangerous!"

She rarely signed "Love", and often just "E".

From the 1975 documentary (inset © free scene in composite):

"This is the best thing to wear for today, you understand. Because I don't like women in skirts, and the best thing is to wear pantyhose, or some pants, under a short skirt, I think. Then you have the pants under the skirt and then you can pull the stockings up over the pants, underneath the skirt. And you can always take off the skirt and use it as a cape. So, I think this is the best costume for today." - "Little" Edie Beale, 1975
