Hello, I was hoping to treat my brother to a signed Harrison Ford picture for his birthday but I have no idea about his signature and what to look for. I have looked online for examples and it looks genuine but any help would be greatly appreciated as I don't want to buy a fake. I really like this one from GM Memorabilia but they seem legit but I'm no Harrison Ford expert. It was £150 or $250 so not sure if this is the real deal. Please help me...thank you all :-) David

It's quite common here for people to play nice and say things like "in my opinion this is not real" or "not likely real" etc.

I'm more of a straight and to the point, especially when it is something I know well.

There is no chance at all that this is real. Whoever signed it knows Harrison's signature well, but they have no flow to the signature at all.

The sharp pointed turn to cross the H, the sloppy bumps they are trying to make look like letters in Harrison, the dead stop and turn at the base of the F.

They would do better not trying to copy a sit down style signature, because they just made a mess of it.

Hi Pete, thank you for your help with this! I have no idea about signatures so your honesty is appreciated :-)

People here have been very helpful answering my questions about sports stuff. It is the least I can do to help with the signatures I have collected for decades.

Harrison has done a number of "official" signings with Official Pix, Coolwaters, Topps and even Celebrity Authentics. The average price for a nice sit down autograph is about $500.

There are a number of trustworthy autograph chasers that have obtained his signature at appearances and in public, the signatures are not as nice as the above mentioned official signings but they are available for a bit less....usually in the $350+ range.

get one from Jason thanos uk based top collector and fair prices his stuff is real and he has a few fords.

google Jason thanos and his site www.hollywood-autographs.com

Looking at the sellers other material, there are 9 other Ford autographs available, and every one of them is the standard " in the streets" signed Harrison Ford. Not one of the remaining pieces that they are offering has any characteristic in common with the one you chose.

For a quick fix , I would suggest seeing if you can swap your order for a different Ford in their stock.

Thanks Pete, I was just looking at other dealers as I have a week to return it. Do the others look genuine? It's a total minefield!! :-)

The seller is fine, his other material all looks fine.

If you are looking for a seller in the UK, you can certainly stick with the one you chose, and from the look of it, any other Ford you choose from him will be real. They may not seem as pretty as the one you picked, but looking closely ...the smudges thru that one would have been quite distracting.

If you would rather move on from that seller I can understand that.

Here in the US on ebay I'd point you at  k9graphs, gmauthenticautos or skylinesignatures.

All of them are people I have known and collected with for years.

I did look at getting one or two from America but some of them have a high import duty of up to £60 so I was trying to find a good dealer in the UK. I will look at those websites tomorrow as bed time for me here in England. Have a good day and thank you once again! Best wishes, David

If I replied to this discussion yesterday I would have said that the autograph appears to be pretty typical to me and Pete would have eventually convinced me otherwise.  Pete has an incredible eye, and his concern about the flow of the signature is warranted.  He absolutely knows his Star Wars autographs.  I have also purchased from Skyline Signatures.  Eric is very reputable.  Good luck David.  Keep us posted.
