Authenticity is Everything
Incredible Madonna bargain. Why did I miss this!
It has been said on this forum that items usually sell for what they're worth. Now that may be true, but there are bargains out there, and occasionally a not-so-smart seller lets a desirable item go for a fraction of its worth.
Check out this Madonna signed "Rolling Stone" magazine. The seller put an opening bid on it of only $99.00, and some lucky lad or lassie got it for the opening bid price. What a steal! Not only do I think it's authentic, it's a beautiful, large autograph by Madonna. I am just thinking why oh why did I not see this item before the end of auction. Since there would have been two bidders including me, I would not have gotten it for $99, but maybe just maybe a bit more.
Madonna autographs are relatively rare, and I think a signed "Rolling Stone" is even more rare. In my opinion, once authenticated by PSA or JSA, this item would be worth at least $700, but probably more. So the seller could have sent it in to PSA or JSA, and gotten a lot more money.

I would wait and see what the experts think.
I had a quick look at the seller's other items and I have to say that it is a rather odd mix. He (I presume it is a he given that glamour features heavily) also has over 1500 items, which doesn't suggest that he is a total amateur.
I agree that the Madonna looks pretty good and the details on the back make it seem even more plausible but I am not enough of an expert to really judge. I can imagine that the number of other similar-looking autographed magazine covers and photographs that the seller has for sale may have put potential buyers off - but obviously it was a Buy-It-Now so maybe it went in five minutes.
If a seller who lists over 1500 items doesn't bother to see what Madonna autographs have sold for in the past he must be crazy - particularly if they include a Buy-It-Now price. If he bought it in the first place he probably would have paid over $100 even ten years ago.
Having said all the above, I will also be pretty jealous if it does turn out to be real. You can get lucky on eBay and I have got some real bargains in the past on there. Not so much in the autograph field but more in my other collecting areas.

Actually, of the seller's 1500 items, very, very few are autographs. Quickly surveying his inventory, it appears as those he sells a lot of UN-signed cards and photos. He only has a few autographs. It does not appear as though he has some big forgery operation going on because he hardly has any autographs at all.
Plus, it was not a Buy-it-Now. It was an auction-style format with an opening bid of $99 for an un-authenticated Madonna. I assume the seller thought it might go a little higher than the opening bid, but there was only one bidder who got lucky and got it for $99. Many, many people shy away on Madonna items without a PSA Or JSA. I really think it's real.

Not to mention Nov 15 and Nov 19, 2005 she had concerts in London. I highly doubt she flew to NY in between the 2 shows.

i haven't bought a physical magazine in quite some time, but iirc, they're often dated weeks later than when they're actually on news stands. and as far as madonna is concerned, it wouldn't surprise me one bit to think she could have flown to NYC in between 2 shows like that. she's richer than god, and maybe just wanted breakfast at the Plaza one day!

Absolutely agree. A magazine COVER DATE is usually at least two weeks if not a month or more into the future from when it is actually put out for sale.
That December 1st Rolling Stone probably went on sale around the 1st of November. And Madonna has done A LOT of traveling back and forth between London and New York.

The Madonna autograph does indeed appear to be authentic, but I'm almost certain the signing date is wrong.

Im a huge madonna fan ( well shed certainly be in my top 5 favourite artists of all time anyway ! ) i have the signed letter along in with the blue box set of hers that also had all the books she released when she was going through that "British " phase of hers about lol . before i bought the box set, i remember someone on ebay had a load of clearly genuine individual signed books from her book signings/ talks in new york around 2005/2006. from what I remember they clearly looked exactly the same as that style on the magazine . the date I cant comment on but that certainly looks genuine to me . as far as flying back to n.y in between dates, that wouldnt surprise me at all. she flew over her to the u.k for about 12 hours sevral years ago just to appear on the national lottery show. !
