Authenticity is Everything
Is there anyway to get some idea as to what PSA think of your item without buying a COA.
I know they offer their quick opinion service but frankly I've heard nothing good about it. I want to send an item to them for a COA but it's pretty expensive and I know how sometimes they mess up.

Yes, of course I have. I have never got an item authenticated by PSA as I live in the UK. I am only stating what I have heard about them from other people. I'm not trying to attack them or anything.

you are talking in circles. if you don't respect their opinion (your option), then why do want to know what they think of something? that is exactly what their Quick Opinion service is set up to do.

Because when buying autographs people generally pick out a PSA or a JSA coa.

I don't mean to attack PSA in anyway. I respect their opinion but I don't want to take the risk of having to pay over $100 and have an item returned to me "fake" when I know it's fully authentic.

You say you have heard nothing good about them but also that they are generally preferred. This is odd to me. What is the autograph? Can you show it?

I have heard many good things about them. It is a Star Wars autograph. I plan to sell it to a local person but they said they'll only buy it with a psa coa. I know it's authentic as it has come from Michael wehrmann. Probably not the best photo.

Ask Pete C. About this Mark Hamill he'll know if it's real or not. One thing he did tell me is that the catch is if he's signing in a public place or so, he'll personalize the item to the person. Of course it's possible the person removed the inscription.

I think the auto is quite old. Did he always do that? I know he does it more now because he hates signing things that just get sold on. I'm not sure if he even signs anymore.

He signs at conventions and thru private signings arranged by his agent. If you catch him in the streets and ask for an autograph, he may indeed insist upon inscribing the item to you.
If he is being paid for the signature (at a signing) he will likely not inscribe unless he is asked to, time premitting.
The signature is not very old, that was his standard signature from the late 80's thru the early 2000's.

The Hamill is real but that is a moot point. Your buyer only wants it if it has a PSA COA, so getting that COA is the only way you can sell it.
You can explain to the buyer that the COA will double the cost of the item, if he wants the photo certified he has to pay half up front, or you will guarantee that the piece passes PSA and he can send it in after he buys it.
