Anybody have enough experience with Jim Croce to tell me if this is legit?

Post a picture of it?  For once, would enjoy seeing an authentic example, in a sea of forgeries!

I just posted this on Facebook.  It turns out my friend who was there with me and my mother that day, sold hers a year ago, as a $100 Buy It Now on ebay!  When I told her how rare it was, she was dismayed to say the least.

That's fantastic, what a treasure. Would really enjoy acquiring it, but unfortunately, I have only enough money for the "refuse" part of "...an offer I couldn't refuse"! Thanks for sharing.

My Jim Croce looks a lot like A.J Burnett's. Signature written on auto repair invoice August 1973. Opinions as to authenticity?

Hi. I hv a very similar looking autograph. JC signed in GA Aug. 1973

Hi AJ,

I know this post is from a few years ago, but do you still have the Jim Croce/Maury Muehleisen autograph that you got in person? Super cool.

If yes, would love to connect - thanks!

Matt

That's a deal breaker there for me. I'd love a real Jim, but literally 98% of the crap they sell in Vegas (especially inside stores in the high end hotels and casinos) is just that: crap. That sharpie looks pretty clean for having been signed in the 70s, but I've learned not to go by just ink alone. If really cared for RIGHT when the thing is signed, most things can be kept looking brand new. However, I highly doubt that the album itself is showing its age that dramatically while the marker ink still looks like it was signed last Tuesday. One would think the ink on an album that used would look like it was signed years ago. Red flag for me.
I was recently in Vegas, and stopped by one of those art of music stores inside the mirage I want to say. They had a Disney drawing and Sig there so far off that I took pics even though they ask you not to. I sent it to a friend that collects golden era Hollywood, and he laughed. They were asking like 1k for it. I saw a we are the world album up on the wall for less $ (red flag) and it was "signed by all the stars that sang on the single". The Steve Perry awful, Oats was wrong. Diana Ross was not only wrong, but misspelled. Yes- they actually did that. Lionel Richie wasnt even in the ballpark. I tried to snap a pic but I was burned by the employee on standby. So I asked why pics aren't allowed (as if I didn't know). He gave me some bull excuse and I asked how else anyone could go about getting them checked by pros without pics to show. He tells me that's not needed because all the items in the store come with a coa from their own authenticators. I asked if these authenticators are the same people who are forging the pieces bc these are all fake. I guess my speaking out loud was a potential threat to business because I was politely asked to leave the store and come back later when the boss was in. But funny thing, boss never came.

The easiest way to tell that this is not authentic is that the freshness look to the ink is not right and it is signed quite slowly.  There are so very few exemplars out there too to get a true overall perspective of his signature style changes over the years.  Did that make sense?

Roger do you think it's possible, or rather , a good idea to go after his autograph since there's so few examples around? If so, do you know of any place or dealer who may have a good Croce? I've checked your site and there aren't any for sale currently. I'd imagine there's only a few hundred genuine Croce autos in existence

I'd definitely be curious to see what a real Croce signature looks like, as I found a signed album in a pile of records I got at a garage sale last spring. It wasn't sold as signed; rather, they had a batch of old records out from that era, it was in there, and I got the pile of 8-10 for something like $2 in total. I'd doubt what I found is the real deal, but you never know.
