Hello all
I am looking for help or advice as I know nothing about this field! I've been given as a bizarre birthday gift a letter signed by King Charles 1st - to Sir Thomas Hope asking for proof of his loyalty, its been authenticated etc, it cost £3250. I really want to sell it because am so incredibly not the right person to be custodian of it. I really don't even know where to begin - can't go to auction as would lose money, London dealers showed interest but then when I said great lets go ahead and try to sell it never replied, nice man from Sothebys said it won't decrease in value so best to hang on to it - argh. Any advice from people who know better would be massively appreciated!! Its just sat in a box in a cupboard - such a waste.
Thanks for any thoughts, advice, help etc!!
Hello,
I am curious - who did the authentication?
