I was stationed onboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) from 1995-1999. In 1997 in preparation for a year long overhaul period in the shipyard, many things were discarded. Walking down the pier one day on my way to my car I encountered a shipmate carrying a bunch of stuff from the ship's trophy case. I ask where he was going and he said to the dumpster. He had a large converse show with many autographs on it and I offered to help him with his load. I carried the shoe on past the dumpsters and to my car. When I got home I was able to get a closer look at the autographs. It says on the side "To the US Navy Sixth Fleet" The auto graphs that I can make out are Akeem #04, (not Hakeem) Bandaid #3, Frank Johnson #15, Tim McCormick #40, Calvin Murphy, Robert Reid #50, Jim Peterson #43, Michael Woodson #42, Rudy Tomjanovich, john Lucas #5, Alan Leavell #30, Walter Berry #6. Any information on the probable authenticity and value of this item would be greatly appreciated.
