Hey everybody, I'm new here and I could really use help with something.  I actually need some opinions.  I want to buy a friend an autographed Mark McGwire street sign.  The autograph is fine, genuine, that's no problem, I was just wondering what would be a good price to pay for it.  Any opinions?  Any kind of help would be appreciated.

Thank you so much.

Got a picture? That makes a difference. And tell us what it'll cost you, since that'll save members some work.

I've seen McGwire at Starbucks a few times, but I've never asked for his autograph—I've never seen anyone ask. It's only a half mile from his home and people respect his privacy for the most part. Where the street sign is from will make a difference--and if it's a real sign. I'll be able to tell you right away if it's a local sign and likely genuine.

Mc's signature value skyrocketed in '98, driven by the hr race with Sosa and his signing habits (no shows, no private signings)

The value plummeted with his assocition with steroids, compounded by his change in signing habits once he because the cards hitting coach.

He also used to rarely sign on the sweet spot of a baseball, and there was a strong premium for a ss Mac on a NL ball.  Now he regularly signs on the ss.  he also had several signature styles.

Not knowing what type of sign its on, or which style signature (full name, half name, or MG) I would say it it impossible to place a value on it.

I'm also new to this forum and am glad I found it.  After reading this thread I'm wondering if I purchased a laser-signed McGwire auto that was represented to be an authentic McGwire signing.  I'm going to attach a couple of pictures and would appreciate anyone's input.  I googled McGwire and street sign and there were at least two websites that advertised the laser-signed street sign, the same one I had purchased.  Thanks!

Turns out the autograph is not authentic as represented, but is a laser signature.  The person I bought it from on ebay is of the opinion that that's the same thing as saying McGwire signed it, and is not a misrepresentation.  Ebay is now reviewing my claim for a refund because the item was not as described.  I certainly hope this should be a no-brainer, but then I've had them do crazy stuff before.

I think they'll honor your claim, Cassy, as long as it's within the allowedtime period. Let me know if they deny it.

Here are some scans of McGwire signed items

I realize it's been a couple of months since you posted your question, but I just came across it last night.  You might want to take a look at a couple of web sites that sell the McGwire 70 laser autographed street sign.

Looks like with shipping they run about $66 and $68, depending on where you order it from.  I don't know if this is what you were looking at, but they are laser signed, rather than signed by Big Mac.  Hope this helps.
