I'm on the hunt for a Mantle signed baseball. Im not good enough to spot the quality Mantle forgeries, so I'm just gonna keep posting here until I get some positive feedback. Or if someone has a Mantle they want to sell me, I'm looking to stay under $300. Thanks!

Easy to remove?
Don't even try it, I see these side panel inscribed balls with the inscription removed fairly often and they look ridiculous.
The baseball is relatively clean so I think it would be doable.
Removing inscriptions is never a good idea. A lot of people will tell you to use Mr clean magic eraser. While they will remove the ink, they will also remove part of the top layer of any ball or photo (if u look in the light at a ball it will be rough, rather than smooth and shiny). Many people will overlook it, but It's always pretty obvious to me. I'm kind of anal and pay close attention to detail, so maybe it bothers me more than others....

I use something else on photos, but I haven't had problems with baseballs. I have only tried it on two baseballs though lol.

From what I have seen, baseballs with "removed" personalizations are not really removed. They are airbrushed over with paint. It usually matches pretty well, but is still detectable on close exam.

I've always wondered what it will end up looking like when the ball continues to age and yellow... will the painted over area stay bright white and the leather looks yellow? Yuck.

I'd have success with totally removing signatures with the ball looking untouched.

A leather ball? I don't under stand how... the ink sinks into the leather. It's not sitting on the surface like with a photo. ????

Yep ROMLB, I was pretty surprised too. It was also a ball signed in the early/mid 90s so it did have time to "sink in."
I think Steve was referring to how the leather soaks up and holds the ink immediately. You would have to either bleach the ink or remove leather.
How exactly do you do it Mike? I'll try it on a ball with a sharpie and pen.

I would recommend NEVER screwing with a signed baseball.
