The Authentic Experience

I am looking at this signed Rihanna photo from Iconographs and a signed Brandy photo from Ed Bedrick. Could anyone tell me their opinion on the authenticity of these photos. Thanks

I must give Nelson credit. I recently contacted Nelson about a Danica Patrick forgery ( a signature pattern that I have removed many times ).  I explained the concerns about the item and Nelson removed it and replied to me quickly.

I didn't ask where he got it. I'm sure he looked into it.  Nelson is always welcome to contact me regarding any other NASCAR autographs that he might have. I will offer him my opinions for free just like I do for anyone else.

Brandon, It was added into inventory before I bought the company.  I threw it away.

I must say that Tracy O's comments and quick departure are suspect. I think at the very least she should identify herself to Steve and be verifiable as who she claims she is (This is how they do it on collectspace and net 54).

Otherwise delete. Anonymous posts of this type do not belong on this site

We need rules here. My i suggest a thread for that very subject?

I agree, we need rules and they've been in the works. They'll be posted for discussion before they're put in place. But I don't want to force collectors to use their real names in most situations—it puts them at risk of robbery or bodily harm, and retaliation from those who do not like what they've said.

It's a fine line. This site is as much about protecting collectors, buying or selling, who have no interest in using the site regularly as it is about its regular members.

I left Tracy O's comments up for now because a number of people have come to Nelson's defense, which I think more than balances things out in Iconographs' favor.

I commented on Nelson and Iconographs, because I have an opinion and information that may be valuable to collectors. And because people who were not anonymous took their posts down after being threatened with litigation by Nelson Deedle/Iconographs.

If he's going to try to keep legitimate collectors from voicing their opinions, then I'm going to have to say what I know.

absolutely concur...   I disagree however with NOT having verified members.  Many places and sites use it.. whether they then choose to use their real names or not as their moniker is then their choice.  The site owners and soon to be moderators will know who the verified members.  It would be nice to have a feature that closed a thread to only verified members but barring such - members are either verified if they wish to post..   oh, and verification can include more than just a name and address.

but speaking of Iconographs;  does having something in one's inventory eliminate the resp0nsibility?  I think not and Steve has alot of insight in that domain.    My view is where there is one in inventory are there others?  Furthering, it's good to hear that brandon spotted it regardless of how it came to his attention... as we need to start having a professional decorum around here otherwise we start sounding like the Klown Posse.  We can disagree without being disagreeable.

what's troubling to hear is that some either knew or suspected the Hestons long ago (as I suspected) but didn't make the case... (oh, a recent comment by our pal Roste (and I say that loosely) is still attacking that study!  Which makes one wonder about his decision making) and then you have others like Mueller who add and there is more to the Gleasons (but let's not give forgers a new life) even though he was still selling "challs".  We have had that discussion here more than once on how to handle it without a definitive result.

focus need to be on the forgeries or secretarials as the case may be, & especially those that sell them (knowingly or adding a TPA seal of approval and not correcting them).  If some get caught in the cross fire (but offer refunds and correct) then so be it and let the ball fall where it may.

Verified members are a good idea, as long as we allow members that aren't verified too. But the devil is in the details. I've been thinking about having people talking about authenticity of their purchases post the documentation with their name and address removed. I'm not sure how to handle it.

DB, you'll be hard-pressed to find a dealer without mistakes among the items they have for sale. What says the most about a dealer is are only a few percent bad...or 10%, 20% or more? The occasional piece should be noted, but the dealers shouldn't be condemned over it.

As for what you call the "Klown Posse"...there are no Bozos on this bus.

That's the difference. Just ignore them.

btw, coach's corner recently claimed to a law enforcement agency that they have only had a dozen or so returns in the last several years while selling "thousands".  Seems these "claims" are all too often repeated whenever there are issues surfaced.  It's like saying they have "thousands" of errors or for every error there are 999 good ones when noone has the facts or audit information to validate or refute.

As we have seen over and over again "they" all make mistakes and what they do to remedy them while cleaning up the history or those already in play is what makes the difference.

unfortunately, the typical collector puts there faith in the more reputable dealers mentioned through-out  these threads as being the clearing house for them.  As such, we are part of the problem as well.  Then, when something is uncovered the accusations, counter claims, flamethrowing begins.  Which is part n parcel as to why the TPAs are valued more than they should be...

yeah, but it's pretty obvious when someone who doesn't identify themselves at all just starts spewing untruths about dealers, makes accusations, but then throws out the "i know who their forger is" comment, but won't tell us THAT PERSON'S name. It's pretty obvious tht "tracy" wasn't a real person and just wanted to rip on someone but then wouldn't tell us his "forger's" name. why would that be? it was kind of obvious that this person feels they are in some sort of competition with iconographs and ed bedrick and felt the need to slander them for that very reason. silly.

and, if brandon really pointed out a danica patrick item from nelson, it is highly possible that the item was bought within the inventory from the old iconographs. brian has had a reputation that could be construed as "iffy" and continues to do so.

mike, the problem has been that Tracy O might be real and might not be.  Unfortunately, from my perspective there are one too many "klown posse" people poking about along with some very disturbed ones.  That one on Farrah Fawcett sticks out in my mind at the moment.  Tis, why - verification of a poster before they are allowed to post is best.

everyone, including cyrkin is entitled to their opinion.  as u of all people well know there is alot of G2 that goes on behind the scenes that never makes it into a post that would or could make great scripts for the Twilight Zone.

I don't buy it - about the inventory.  If you inherit something then it is the responsibility to wade thru the inventory and weed out the bogus ones or it ought to be a primary responsibility.  Hiding behind the "i didn't make a mistake" or as in the case of "i am the foremost yadda yadda yadda" and then offer up Challs or other questionable material seems to me, at least, to be counteproductive.

Many collectors don't have the wherewithall or knowledge to do their homework.  I believe it was pointed out, he did and it was thrown away.  Thus, one less to worry about unless Pogo has access to the round file!  These threads have been one of the greatest reasons why I have simply stopped for the most part from buying from any auction house, at the moment as I don't have time to research everyone and whose exemplars does one believe.

The best way to find out, post your item at "Is this autograph real?" but without mentioning dealer. Then you can get an objective opinion. Good luck.
