I believe its been discussed on this forum before, but wanted to make everyone aware of the known stamp that David Gilmour used in the Division Bell promo photos. There's a few on the market and I just want to make sure that folks can easily tell the difference between a stamped Gilmour and an authentic, which is pretty easy to spot.

The Richard Wright and Nick Mason signatures are authentic in each example, however, the Gilmour is a black inked stamp, most of the time bearing the inscription, 'best wishes'. The stamp varies in thickness but overall is identical. Here are some examples:

Good post. I have seen this stamp as well - often on the vertical head shot and it sells many times :( I've tried to make the stamp a bit easier to see. Placement varies. I would think the loose "best wishes" a clue in itself.

Here's just such a vertical head shot, but of an authentic signature with best wishes, for comparison.  Hope this is helpful.

That's a great example of an authentic promo shot with inscription, thanks for sharing it! Key to the stamp is looking out for the black ink placed in the dark area. David would never sign to hide his signature.

I'm not saying that these stamped promos should be avoided. With Wright's passing, they are still desirable photos to own, however at more realistic prices as they are missing the front man of the group

Can't seem to find a scan the classic 5x7 preprint. Here is another with letter from Joanna stating he does not normally sign but here is an exception:

My new one also with Gilmour Limited card also with Joanna's signature:

Both signatures stand out well with proper pen/placement. The promos are by far the easiest to authenticate as David signed full and neat for each

Seller of the one up now still insists it is handsigned...shame.

"Gilmour autographs are rare, he hardly ever signs,
at most still charity events."
