I'm crushed. He was my favorite actor, meeting him on Broadway years ago stands as my favorite in-person experience ever.

He was 69 years old.

I was really hoping this was an internet hoax, but BBC and NBC news are reporting this as a fact now.

Shocked. He was always a very friendly person. RIP Alan.

Wow. Rough start to the year. Rickman was an amazing actor lost too soon. RIP.

I looked around over the years for an autograph from Mr. Rickman for my wife. I never purchased one unfortunately. She loves this guy. It is sad to hear he passed away.

Awful news! I saw him at a premiere last year

There is nothing real there.

I thought I saw a inscribed piece to William that was real....not sure if that is his account or not.

Yes that is the only one I left out (the piece to William) because I did a quick scan of legit Rickmans and it looked good to me too.

I once heard him say he did not sign many Harry Potter photos and don't know if this is true or not so perhaps Pete or someone knows for sure but they are coming out in their hundreds now. RIP to a great actor.

When I met him in NYC 2002, the first Potter film was out but the 2nd had yet to be released. He politely refused all Potter material at the stage door of the play Private Lives. Telling fans he does not sign Potter photos or posters. As the years rolled on, he repeatedly told friends of mine in the city, no Potter sorry .... when asked if he would ever sign Potter material, his response was maybe when the hype died down.

Unfortunately, it seems the Potter hype never really died.

I have seen a handful of signed Potter 8x10s from very early, and a a few cast signed posters, all of which have been inscribed except for the earliest items signed as he did press for the first film.

and yes there is one real Potter shot on ebay. You can skip the multitude of other junk up there.

Hi, new to Alan Rickman autographs but I don't want to get caught buying a likely forgery. Any opinions on ipanetwork Steve Woolf or thegenuinearticle Bob Cross? I've attached a pic as well...opinions of it?

Thanks everyone!

Hello,

Just thought i'd share this one with you.

I met Alan Rickman a couple of you ago when he was travelling on my train (I'm a railway guard on the mainline trains)

I meet celebrities from time to time with my job, often just Z list X-factor/ Big brother contestants i have no interest in but occasionally ones that I'm happy to meet.

Mr Rickman really was really lovely, had a nice long chat with him and i was very sad to hear of his passing. I'll never forget him smiling at my friend as she was reeling off her favourite movies 'Rickman' movies to him.

I think Samantha Morton was amazingly generous too, spent ages chatting with her.

I personally don't get selfies while I'm working although many of my colleagues do without issue.

Regards Mike
