UKBlue Bowie "autograph" now "appears" a blatant mechanical copy...

22UKBlu is now offering mechanical "autographs" as genuine - have a look...an overlay is not necessary. Bold and obvious. GRRR. This sellers offerings are the bulk of the "Bowie's I don't think are real" thread, but this is a new technique which thankfully looks awful -  worse than his "drawn" stuff in many ways.

Oh good, I tried to right click and copy his post but failed! Wasn't sure if he was a member here so I'm glad it worked out! A bunch of people said good so I felt I had to speak up and direct him to "Eric" at AML. So score one for AML! To be fair I'm not familiar with the 4 or 5 that said good and I don't like to argue.

Ian,

I've touched base with a lot of people who used to post regularly to ask why they've stopped posting.  The usual answers are - that reporting usually doesn't stop it--the forgers keep going.  It becomes sort of mind/time consuming making a "bad guy" stop - and when nothing happens to stop these guys from cranking out cash, many decide to just walk away.  Especially if they get threatened by that person.

One person I truly miss is Dom - he was all over Coach's corner.  And he was a funny guy on the side as well.  But there are many many MANY more.  They spent a lot of time learning the autographs and are truly missed.

Dom was a true classic!
Im fed up myself with the hobby and often think it would be best to pull the plug on it.
Im truly fed up with ip-graphers/ dealers who really have destroyed the hobby for most true fans, who think they are superior to the collectors.
Ip-dealers calling my items fake when they have passed reputable tpa's in the industy and opinions sort from collectors, which were authentic.
These days seem like a emerged of reputable dealers selling fakes until someone calls them on it and fraudulent dealers buying real graph but still selling forgeries. It's just about the money.

Hi Ian,

My response disappeared - fortunately I saved it:

"Hi Ian,

Thanks again - but I am the lucky one! The RAAC gent did contact me - I said the very same - "good but a bit shaky in 2 areas where I have seen shakiness before, but slightly odd slant/placement - ask Roger for "second eyes".

I think it is fine, but there are some very nifty forgeries about lately - such that the value of the genuine article may be affected."

Funny, you having computer problems. I read all I needed, you saved the guy!

Clearly Ian, this must be a conspiracy ;) I saved it and pasted it here...and it is still gone! However, I photographed it - third time is a charm:

Ink pooling and no flow lines... The one on the left looks like a rubber stamp copy of the one on the right.

Hi Steve,

I saw those features but thought a stamp these days with all the available technology...but whatever "works" I suppose. Thanks!

Good job, Eric! Who's selling it? An RACC member was mentioned. Was one offering it?

Thank you, Steve. No, nothing to do with RACC. The gentleman from the RACC was seeking an opinion on a Bowie signed CD not shown here and Ian suggested he come to AML which he did, and we chatted. The signature looked good to me and others - I suggested Roger for extra eyes as some of these forgeries are getting interesting - this stamp is not among them.

Roger is one of the best on Bowie.
