Permalink Reply by DB on November 20, 2011 at 5:35am Geez, I waited in the lounge for the Klown Posse to show up for a beer but alas must be still hiding out under their rocks....
What a zoo day 1 was.... Even with advance tickets it was a huge disorganized mess. The 10:30 regular entry line beat in the advance 9:30 line.
Patrick Stewart and Althae Rae Janario along with Sean Astin really pulled in a large crowd. Howie Mandel is one lucky sob judging by the deal or no deal guests (one of which had to be 6' tall blonde)!
Of the many highlights the two that stand out are with Stewart. 1st the attendee in my VIP Line explains to Stewart his involvement in Star Wars and then asks "could you inscribe it with May the force be with you" to which Stewart replies, "No, u have the wrong show and entertainer". The 2nd one was when he was signing & inscribing my items he comes across the X-Men one and had no idea how to spell Xavier. Now that brought chuckles. There were no flashes allowed from cameras and wondered if there was an underlying ailment as he indicated he "does have bad hands" which is why he did not shake or mandel knuckle (but that could be the "germophobe" aspect as well.
oh, and Althae is Tia Carrere real name - what a sweetheart. Or in her own words as Cassandra - Party On!
Permalink Reply by DB on October 4, 2011 at 7:06am Just in - Spooky World Estate Sale this Friday (Oct 7th-9th), Saturday & Sunday 9-3 at 37 Brewster Rd. Sudbury Mass. Spooky World for years was the Halloween event in the NEast and due to volume had to move to Patriot's stadium.
The collection includes autographed pictures and props (including Tippi Hendren-signed crows, as well as signed memorabilia from all the Spooky World guests over the years), original movie posters, lobby cards and press kits spanning 1930s horror to '70s X-rated flicks, marquee signs from the old “Pussycat Theater” in Boston (which Mr. Bertolino took out of a trash bin), 1,200 costumes (selling for $5 to $10 each), 300 neckties (many hand-painted and from the '40s and '50s, and even one worn by F. Lee Bailey during the O.J. Simpson murder case; Mr. Bertolino has the picture to prove it), a vast comic book collection from the '50s to the '70s (concentrating on horror), a vintage Coca-Cola machine, a Bally's 1978 Playboy pinball machine (depicting Hugh Hefner sandwiched between Playmates Patti McGuire and Sondra Theodore), an original Pac-Man video arcade game, a 50-year-old Willie Wiredhand statue from Boston Edison (appraised at $6,500), hand-shaped chairs from the '70s and one-of-a-kind Spooky World artifacts, collectibles and props (include original hayride signs and animatronic killer clowns, each with a certificate of authenticity).
a “Gone with the Wind” autograph display that features the signatures of Vivien Leigh (Scarlett O'Hara), Clark Gable (Rhett Butler), Leslie Howard (Ashley Wilkes), Olivia de Havilland (Melanie Hamilton), Thomas Mitchell (Gerald O'Hara), Barbara O'Neil (Ellen O'Hara), Ann Rutherford (Carreen O'Hara), Hattie McDaniel (Mammy) and Butterfly McQueen (Prissy). The reasons it might fetch an estimated $4,000 to $8,000 are McDaniel (the first African-American to win an Academy Award) and McQueen, who because they were black weren't allowed to do any press in the '30s, so their autographs are exceptionally rare.
