The Authentic Experience

I have a silk fan from austria, end of XIXth century, designed especially to receive autographs. I have identified about a dozen signatures of playwrites, actresses, musicians, and composers, but the signature which stands out is that of Clara Von Hirsch, widow of the Baron, both benefactors of XIXth century jewish educational institutions and re-settlement efforts in America and the Middle East. I would appreciate any information on where this artifact could find a proper home.

Sounds very interesting; who are the other signers?

I have a letter written by the Baron himself. His signature is not worth much, and I suspect his wife's is less so, but the uniqueness of your item -- and, of course, the other signers -- may up its value.

If you are interested, I can recommend some highly dependable Israeli auction houses to sell your item, if you are interested. Best of luck.

Saul
Saul,
I have found some signatures such as Ondricek, a violinist of international repute in the late XIXth century, the playwright Bauernfeld, woman writer Ossip Schubin (M. Hirshner), actresses Hermine Claar-Delia and Charlotte Wolter, composer Anton Rubinstein, banker Theodor Dreifus and his wife Charlotte ( maiden name Von Stein)
Madame Leo Herzel
Otto Roquette (writer)
Carl Schonfeld
Rudolph Schonfeld
Robert Woldmuller ( aka Duboc) Writer
Max Bing (actor, not sure)
Rosalie Schonfeld
Finkel Radetzky
Jarny
Dr Schlesinger
Albert Figdor ( philanthropist and collector)
Wilhelm Lubke
and a few more I can't make out, such as Malmina?Donnunferl?Piperly?
Two Kremer signatures, Doppler?, Wurzbal?
Someone who would know who's who in Vienna at that time could probably cross reference the autographs better than I can, they mostly seem to be either artist of some note, or very weel off ( Hirsch, Dreifus and Figdor).
And yes, I would very much appreciate any reference to Israeli auction houses as many of the signature seem to belong to significant jewish members of the late XIXth century Austrian intelligentzia and artistic community.
Thanks again,
Jean-Carle
I am so sorry it took so long for me to reply to this; I am playing significant catch-up with my emails!

As I've just indicated to another member of our Judaica group, you should contact Yakov Tsachor at TEL-AVIV STAMPS (tastps@netvision.net.il) to ask if he's interested in your item. He can also give you a good ballpark estimate of value.

Good luck!
Thank you for the reference. I will follow up with this.
