The Authentic Experience
Hi, i need some expert advice please!
I have a Jimmy Hendrix autograph, which i am regrettably having to sell (signature is on the back of a 6 X 4" single leaf Xmas card, in green pen). I do not have any authentication with signature, could anyone please confirm authenticity?
However, i have a dilemma. I have been offered a swap for a Paul Mccartney autograph (standard 1960's signature on white page).
I am tempted as i am more of a Mccartney fan than Hendrix. But i am wandering if i am selling myself short money wise. If anyone could give their opinion on how much my Hendrix auto is worth, i would be very grateful.
Thanks

When was your Hendrix signed? I´m sure you will get replies about the authencity.
Is swapping to Macca a good deal? Check McCartney and Hendrix prices here:

and decide yourself if it´s a good deal. Ofcourse there are other values than money....

Permalink Reply by Steve Cyrkin on December 14, 2010 at 9:44pm I'm no expert, but I'm sorry to say that I don't think it's real. It looks similar to a lot of the forgeries I've seen. Go to www.signedsealeddel.com and type Hendrix in the search box--he has several. I think you'll see similarities between those that you don't find on yours.

I love that you're uploading all these examples! What about uploading the photos of at least 10-25 in each category and creating a photo album with them all in them? Visitors can leave and discuss opinions of authenticity. Put your opinions on authenticity in the description to start. You sound like me—you're not saying you're an expert and don't mind people disagreeing with you.
McCartney signatures, on album pages, have sold for around $200 to $500. Tops.
Hendrix, $1,000. Don't make the trade.
(you spell it Jimi, too)
I've seen about 15 Hendrix signatures over the years. I have a signed Hendrix album.
This looks like his style, but it looks a little to "clean" and "polished." I wouldn't buy this autograph, as I'd think it was a fake (but I'm no expert...i just play one online)
Permalink Reply by Steve Cyrkin on December 15, 2010 at 11:17am Don't burn any of them. Try to get a refund from the seller, even if it's been years, and save them for your reference file, but set them apart as bad or write it on the item--in pencil if you're not 100% sure. Something like that. But I'd get any valuable rock autograph authenticated by an authenticator respected in that field, even items from highly respected sellers. Even good guys make mistakes, and if they die or go out of business the protection is worth it.
WOW, i didnt expect this sort of response! As i was very confident on authenticity, i was mainly expecting replies on the Hendrix V Mccartney subject.
Obviously, I now need to to find out if signature is authentic or not before i sell it. The person i obtained signature from, originally purchased it from StarShots collectables in the 90's (I have their COA). Does anyone have any info on their credibility?
Also, if i am going to send it for authentication, who would be the best?
