Is this a Shel Silverstein signature?

Started Apr 21, 2015 0 Replies

This is written inside a copy of Where the Sidewalk Ends that I purchased. I don't even know if the signature is actually supposed to say Shel or if that's just my wishful thinking because if it is…Continue

What would you like to tell us about yourself, your collecting, or business.
I love collecting books. Mostly books I have a personal interest in (fantasy, sci-fi, literature, satire) but also books that I appreciate for their historical value or straight-up weirdness. One of my favorite types of book to collect is association copies because while signatures are cool an entire page message from an author I love is the coolest thing in the world.

Why do you collect?
I've always loved books and have had more books than I could fit on my shelves since I was about 8. Since then I've bought more shelves, but also pared down the junk and begun to collect some really cool signed or rare books. I also sell some of the things I find in my searches that don't interest me on a personal level to fund my own collection.
What is your favorite autograph in your collection?
A Kurt Vonnegut signed Franklin Library First Edition of Galapagos because he is my favorite author, it's one of my favorite books, and it is 100% guaranteed to be real.
You can ask anyone living or dead for their autograph. Who would it be?
I've seen a Vonnegut self-portrait that had his signature and asterisk symbol worked into it on a first edition copy of Slaughterhouse Five. That was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
