Hi; I'd like to join this group. I've been hoping and waiting for the group to be formed. There are a number of "character actors" whose autographs have eluded me for years. I am looking for 1. Robert Wilke (challenged James…

Jay Burstein replied to Richard Kim's discussion 'Centralized Registry MemReg.com should Eliminate Fraud, Eventually' in the group Authentication and Forgery Alert
Following this discussion for part of today, I've got to say that it is great watching a great idea like this develop, get all the kinks out, let everone understand their options, etc. The way Mr. Kim explains it it is a win-win for anyone who…

Hi, Mike; I'm not sue but I think my idea about selling the items is being misconstrued. I'm just saying thatonce you've submitted your autograph to the database and it "passes," you get it back and keep it, but it has been…

Jay Burstein replied to Richard Kim's discussion 'Centralized Registry should Eliminate Fraud, Eventually (MemReg.com).' in the group Authentication and Forgery Alert
I think this is a wonderful idea. I had discussed something like this with one dealer some time ago but we both thought it was a tremendous project that would requiore a lot of people working together, and then the inevitable question…

Jay Burstein replied to Jennifer Odom's discussion 'Which Autograph Company can you trust?'
Hi, Steve; Thanks for the link. This is encouraging. I got a bit of a kick out of the listing of one of the expelled dealer's address, being in Leavenworth, but the Leavenworth in Washington, not Kansas. Maybe his next address...? Thanks, Jay

Hi, John; I think Anthony is the owner and Jerry works for him. I know that I have given as gifts several items I bought from them and with my bad experience with them I now feel like I probably passed on fakes to people I liked, aa the while…

Hi, Lee; Were you able to find LQ HJones addres yet? If not, send me an email to jburstei@dhs.nyc.gov and I'll email it to you privately. I'm sure it's his home address and don't want to violate the rules, but at the same time,…

How about AACS? I just got a refund for a bunch of fakes I bought from them. But I also got some real stuff from them too. Anyone else have any experiences with AACS or are you smart enough to stay away from  them? Jay Burstein

Jay Burstein replied to Chris's discussion 'Todd Mueller'
Yes, I did. When I first learned I had inauthentic pieces, two Burt Lancasters and a few others I had purchased from Star-Shots in Florida, I posted about my good experience. That was six or seven months ago. Then I sent Todd a second batch to sell…

Lee; I am sure that the address I have for him is his home address, but I found it here on Autograph Magazine in the celebrity address listings. In fact it was listed there on two occasions, which drove me a bit crazy because I thought I had the…

Profile Information

What kind of member are you? Industry professionals must use their real names and identify themselves as such. (You don't have to pick just one!)
Collector
What do you collect, or want to start collecting?
History/Politics, Modern Hollywood and Stage, Classic Hollywood and Stage, Music
Tell us more about your collection, specific areas of interest, etc.:
I began collecting about fifteen years ago joining a friend in Los Angeles for a Hollywood Collectors' Show there, where I met Don Knotts, Steve Reeves, John Agar, and Steve Allen, and then slowly built up a nice collection that includes John Wayne (in a classic b/w photo from HONDO) public figures like President Lyndon Johnson, Hubert Humphrey, Simon Wiesenthal, Walter Cronkite, Gerald Ford, and governor George Wallace; acting legends Victor Mature (great b/w scene from "My Darling Clementine"), Woody Allen, John Cassavetes, Sophia Loren, and the entire cast of the classic TV show, "Combat," including Vic Morrow. My greatest treasure, though, is my collection of autographs from the film, "The Wild Bunch," including William Holden, Robert Ryan, writer/director Sam Peckinpah (and Walon Green), Warren Oates, Bo Hopkins, and Ben Johnson, though a few of the actors, notably the Mexicans, elude me still. I have recenly begun giving autographs as gifts and all recipients have commented how wonderful a gift an autograph is because it gives you a touch of personal contact otherwise unavailable, especially on a star no longer with us. I have found some reputable and some unreputable dealers along the way and would love to hear abvout other people's experiences with fraudulent signatures and the like.
What is your level of expertise?
Intermediate Collector
What is your favorite autograph in your collection?
My "Wild Bunch" collection.
Why do you collect?
I have always loved TV and film. It was and is a great escape, ansd am thankful to the actors who made it happen. I look at the "Wall of Fame" in my office and I am instantly transported to the film or show that features the signer, and not just to that show or film, but to "a better time" or just "another time" in my life.
You can ask anyone living or dead for their autograph. Who would it be?
(Stan) Laurel and (Oliver) Hardy
