What would you like to tell us about yourself, your collecting, or business.

1930’s and 40’s although I have allowed my focus to widen at times to the 1920’s. The stars, but also the co-stars and especially the character actors.

I want to know more about collecting as well as other sources of reliable items.

Although not directly to you, Mr. Tom Kramer has been instrumental in developing my love of collecting.

Why do you collect?

My father loved film. Born in 1914, he told me about the scene in the original Ben Hur where poisonous snakes were catapulted unto the other ship and countless stories about growing up with the film industry. Living in the Detroit area I was fortunate and watched, whenever possible, a
daily movie host, Bill Kennedy. This allowed me to enjoy my father’s favorites many times with him, but often enjoying them as he did for the first time.

What is your favorite autograph in your collection?

An early Basil Rathbone sepia tone photo and signature.

You can ask anyone living or dead for their autograph. Who would it be?

Jean Arthur - the intelligence, the strength she portrayed in various characters and, I would have to be honest, her beauty. Taken together her appeal as an artist and person, coupled with her usual reluctance to interact with fans. Even being turned down could give a small glimpse of the person at the heart of her portrayals.
