Authencity certificate requirements for dealers and shows in California

Started this discussion. Last reply by john shaw Jan 3. 1 Reply

My attention was drawn to this new (or rather revised) law in California. Basically it means all dealers in that state will have to provide 7 year certificates of authenticity for all autographs with…Continue

Interesting results of Tom Gregory collection at RR Auctions 15 November 2016

Started this discussion. Last reply by Eric K Longo Dec 23, 2016. 17 Replies

Steve kindly sent out an email regarding this auction. I rarely look at the RR site so I was very grateful for the tip-off. It would be crazy to say that I wasn't impressed with what was on offer. The…Continue

"Hi Michelle, as soon as I glanced at this I had my doubts. Something about the flow bothered me. Looking at it in more detail I am even more convinced that it is dubious. The hesitant "D" and wrongly-formed final "a" seem to be…"

a pug called eva replied to Richard Steele's discussion Macca signed Hofner Bass
"I will leave others to take a view on your choice of words Richard, but I was just expressing my opinion on signed objects that the signer has no direct connection with. I can see why an instrument signed by a musician would most likely be worth…"

a pug called eva replied to Richard Steele's discussion Macca signed Hofner Bass
"I my humble opinion these pickguards are a massive yawn even if real. The photo of the Beastie Boy signing a whole load just for a dealer to sell on is an absolute turn-off. I wouldn't even want a signed guitar body (or any other instrument for…"

"Are you referring to "your" example? What do you mean by "taking off from the page". I don't really see any great variation between "Mon" and "roe"."

"Apologies for not explaining myself. I hate it as well when people just say "not real" without explaining why. I guess I thought this one was too clear cut. There is a very small chance that I may be wrong but for me this signature is too…"

a pug called eva replied to Samuel Mumenthaler's discussion BEATLES SIGNED TWIST AND SHOUT EP - REAL?
"Hi Ballroom and Steve, which oldie but goodie are you referring to? I don't see a link in your post Ballroom. IAA are actually a UK auction house that holds auctions in Spain as well as the UK. Don't ask me why they hold auctions in Spain…"

a pug called eva replied to rogers wright's discussion So i finally figured out who signed for Mitch on the Hendrix airline envelope
"While Mitch is obviously not the "key man" I would think it would make quite a big difference to desirability and value. A bit like the Beatles with and without Ringo. With the Experience being a threesome I would say his absence would…"

a pug called eva replied to rogers wright's discussion So i finally figured out who signed for Mitch on the Hendrix airline envelope
"I think most of us thought the Mitch was too odd to be true. I seem to remember that a contributor to this site bought the envelope at a UK auction for a relatively reasonable sum (but over $5k) and "flipped it" for a handsome profit at…"

"Hi, Paul & Paul I totally agree that it is a great piece and it would grace any collection. Good luck with your offer. I also agree that 40-50% was a bit on the high side re the auctioneer's cut but I was reckoning on around 20%-25%…"

a pug called eva replied to James Stone's discussion When your autograph was signed. Does it make a difference to you?
"Going back to the Harrison prices from James' link, I think you'll find that an individual Harrison signed in 1963 will usually sell for considerably less than one signed in 1967 or later. In James' link Tracks don't list an…"

a pug called eva replied to James Stone's discussion When your autograph was signed. Does it make a difference to you?
"I do not think you could possibly say that the date of an autograph is irrelevant, at least for the vast majority of signers with a value of $100 or more. Just look at the price difference between the autograph of a silent movie star signed in the…"
