7 Great Autograph Dealers—Who would you add to the list?

Who are your favorite autograph dealers? Ones that never sell an autograph they're not sure is genuine, and give customers their money back the rare times they make a mistake?

I need to know.

I'm assembling a list of great autograph dealers. Dealers that I can feel confident recommending to collectors. Dealers with meaningful money-back guarantees who treat collectors right.

Each dealer that makes the cut will get a full listing at no cost in our directory launching in January, so autograph collectors, new and experienced, can collect as safely as possible.

The 7 dealers featured below are on my Great Autograph Dealers list.

Who would be on yours?

Official Pix Authentic Autographs
Official Pix has been the most trusted name in Star Wars autographs since 2001. No one has sold more genuine Star Wars autographs worldwide. Every autograph comes from an Official Pix-witnessed private signing. The company owner also owns and operates Rebelscum.com, the world’s leading Star Wars news and collecting website & forum.

You can pre-order from their private signings, and even send in your own items to be signed. Or, shop the Official Pix Online Store for signed photos and more from their private signings.

Official Pix now holds private signings beyond Star Wars. Dick Van Dyke, Harrison Ford, Roger Moore, Tippi Hedren and the cast of Married With Children are some of the many private signings they’ve held this year. Check their Facebook page for the latest.

Dr. Richard Saffro's YLS Autographs
A lifetime collector, Dr. Richard Saffro went into the autograph business in the 1990s after retiring as a physician. He's earned my respect through his concern for the hobby and the way he does business. He authored the last two editions of the Sanders Autograph Price Guide, and I worked with him on the last edition and loved it.

Dr. Saffro's YLS Autographs specializes in American historical autographs, focusing on Presidential and military autographs, especially WWII and Civil War. All autographs come with a lifetime guarantee of authenticity.

YLS Autographs doesn't have a website. Dr. Saffro prefers the personal relationship that comes from doing business by email and phone. Send him an email at rksaffro@gmail.com and get to know him. You'll be glad you did.

The Autograph Source
The Autograph Source specializes in investment-grade Sports, Rock 'n' Roll, Historic and Hollywood autographs and documents. Owned by Rick Schultz and in business for 20 years, everything they offer comes with a lifetime money-back guarantee of authenticity, most with certification by PSA/DNA, JSA or other respected third-party authenticators.

Rick is great with special orders, "If it exists, we can find it!" Give them your list if you don't see what you're looking for on their site or in their gallery in Aspen, Colo. And their handsome, dramatic archival framing is second to none.

Rick has my utmost trust and respect. Check out The Autograph Source website and Facebook page...you're in for a treat!

Conway’s Vintage Treasures

Kevin Conway started collecting and then selling rare vintage historical autographs over 30 years ago while in the US Navy. Ask Kevin what the most important part of his business is, he’ll say “AUTHENTICITY.” The lifetime guarantee on the COA of every autograph Conway's Vintage Treasures sells says it all: Guaranteed to Pass JSA or PSA.

Kevin deals in rare autographs and sports memorabilia, vintage movie and circus posters, fine art and historical photos and artifacts. I love visiting Conway’s Vintage Treasures and their Facebook page—there are always fun surprises in store.

Kevin’s blog post, Warning Signs an Autograph Dealer May be Selling Forgeries, is a must-read for every collector. Kevin a UACC Registered Dealer...and a great example of a great dealer.

Tom Kramer's Golden Age Autographs
Tom Kramer is one of the most respected experts in vintage film and entertainment autographs. Dealers and auction houses want his opinion when they’re not sure if an autograph is real or not. He’s JSA's vintage entertainment specialist, and the consultant for the Classic Entertainment Autograph Database.

Tom's company, Golden Age Autographs, specializes in vintage film and entertainment autographs, and offers autographs in other categories as well. All autographs come with a lifetime money-back guarantee of authenticity.

Established in 1990, Golden Age is a UACC Registered Dealer and a member of PADA: the Professional Autograph Dealers Association. Tom maintains a very active online catalog, with hundreds of carefully described autographs. New listings are added several times a week. Go to GoldenAgeAutographs.com.

I have purchased from both Mike Schreiber and Eric Fogelfis (ie. Skyline Signatures), each well-trusted RACC dealers!

Steve, do you still recommend Memory Lane for 1950s baseball autographs?

And do you still like Heritage for 1950s baseball cards?  Thanks much..

It's good to ask questions. I'm extremely cautious when making even the smallest purchases now, and there are relatively few sources I trust. In this instance though, the legal action is garbage from garbage. The whole situation was stupid from what I recall.

Don't be sorry, Seleznev. You need to ask about things like that.

Comment by Seleznev Dmitri on December 22, 2016 at 6:51pm

Jeez! What a story... Sorry, I had to ask.

I think we've been through that enough times to know what that's about. The people involved are hardly class acts and have done little to nothing to actually discredit Roger amongst knowledgable collectors.

I'm glad you asked, Seleznev. Are you referring to the Michael Johnson lawsuit about a band-signed Led Zeppelin album? I don't think that any of the autographs on the album are fake and I don't think that the lawsuit is warranted. It was filed by someone with a history of suing even his own family.

Comment by Seleznev Dmitri on December 22, 2016 at 6:25pm

I don't mean disrespect to anyone but there is some materials about lawsuit against Roger Epperson when you Google it. Any comments on it? Thank you.
