CLEM BURKE drummer of the rock band BLONDIE, keeps his word

Clem Burke, the long time drummer of the rock band Blondie, indeed kept his word to me about signing autographs.  On August 16, 2011, I met Clem while he was in attendance at The Grammy Museum in Los Angeles for the Q&A/Performance of his pal, Nick Lowe.  Starting up a conversation with Clem, I indicated to him that I am a collector of autographed memorabilia, and especially collect signed drum heads.  He basically asked me, "well then, where is a drum head that I can sign?".  Not knowing he was going to be there, I did not have one for him.  He chuckled, and then very graciously provided me an address here in L.A. and stated that if I send him a drum head to this address, he would without a doubt recieve the mail, remember me, and be happy to sign one for me.

With that information, and the fact that within a week he would be on tour for the next 6 - 7weeks, I waited a couple months and then sent him the request as instructed (along with a couple photos of him taken at his appearance at The Go-Go's Hollywood Blvd star signing, a week earlier).  True to his word, in less than 2 weeks of mailing him a parcel, I was returned in the mail the below drum head you see pictured here (and signed photos as well, not pictured).

True to his word, Clem not only had the class and good nature to provide me that address but went out of his way to sign everything I sent.

I saw Blondie in September and they did a nice show.

Good to hear that they treat their fans well.

great story. BLONDIE have all been great about signatures. I saw them at one venue, and afterwards, 75 of us waited for autographs. It was 1 a.m. and cold. Debbie Harry ran to the bus, waving to us, saying "Let me just get a sweater. We figured, as her longtime guitarist (and former husband) signed...we would not be seeing her. TRUE TO HER WORD...she came out, wearing a sweater, signing, with two security guards, who said "only two per person." Wow. I got a poster signed (from that show), as well as a favorite CD I brought. Class act, and great band to see live.
