The Authentic Experience

Drew Brees Autograph Deal, Ebay is now removing even PSA'd auto's

Not sure if any of you heard this already but apparently Drew signed a deal with Steiner I think and now they are having ebay remove anything that is not Steiner from ebay. Not sure how many people have been effected by this but my friend easygraphs got 7 removed last week and ebay suspended him for 7 days effectively ending every auction he had in the process. So he sent this into PSA and they authenticated them all, he relisted them and they suspended him for 30 days. And I got wind that this is happening to others as well.

Apparently in the message he got from ebay Steiner is claiming they have exclusive rights to sell his autograph and ebay is just excepting this. Does anyone know how to fight this? I don't have any Brees signatures so it does not effect me but Brees is one of the better signers in the NFL and a lot of honest in person dealers will be effected.

Steiner does not have an exclusive with Drew Brees. Drew Brees has an exclusive deal with GTSM and has had an exclusive with Gary for many years now.

The reason they are being removed is GTSM is a VeRO (Verified Rights Owner) member with eBay and VeRO members have the right to have any and all items removed. I brought this up last week in another post about VeRO in general however I don't think it was taken to serious because many members felt that this can not be done. What is happening is these guys with "Exclusive" contracts with these players are trying to protect their investment and force people to buy directly from them. Drew Brees is actually a very good example of this, Brees is a great signer and will sign almost anything anytime you see him and that is never a good thing in the eyes of the guy holding the exclusive contract so what they are doing is pulling anything they feel wasn't bought directly from them. Is this fair? No. But it is happening and is only going to get worse moving forward. From what the VeRO information states and what eBay will tell you on the phone there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. Now could an attorney do something about this? It's yet to be seen as far as I know but would be interesting to see.

Hard to imagine they'd really be stupid enough to start doing that.  What about items with just the Brees hologram?

Notice I said "I think Steiner", wasn't 100% sure who had the deal but I though he said steiner. Regardless, this is not legal no matter you put it. No one can own the exclusive rights to sell someone signature regardless of who and where it was signed.

So can I file some kind of a VeRo to exclusively sell Babe Ruth's signature? Why not...

Yes ita gtsm . They took down Aikman and other people who are exclusive to gtsm . Brees is a great in person signer. Kinda of sucks . Alot of hollywood people are vero as well . Those vero strikes are the hardest things to fight as well . Anything with Bress sticker came from gtsm most likely .

Theo Chen is starting a class action lawsuit against gtsm if anyone had there stuff pulled down . Please make sure your autograph is 100% legit if you do plan on joining the lawsuit .

That's actually good news for people that had authentic items pulled down. Do you have any information on the suit that can be posted?
