As I mentioned a few days ago, I had some autographed in person Mariano Rivera 8x10's stickered and certed by GAI a number of years ago.  At the time, it seemed like the right thing to do for any future owner of the photos.  Then GAI imploded and items with their sticker are like death as we all know.  So, I asked a few days ago if anyone had an idea how to remove those doggone stickers.  Someone reccomended I get some Goo Gone and try to work that under the edge.  Well, that really doesn't work.  Once I painstakingly scraped the sticker off with my fingernail, the Goo Gone did a nice job of removing the adhesive.  Unfortunately, scraping off a sticker does bad things to the photo paper so once the GAI sticker is off I'd have to place another sticker to cover up the damage to the photo (I was using a Bill Mazeroski Photo for experimentation).  So I went on to some Jim Brown and Ken Stabler mini helmets I had.  Worked like a dog picking off those stickers and then used the Goo Gone and the helmets looked great!!  Back to the 8x10's.  I tried puting a hologram over the sticker and it looked so so.  If you looked close you could see the outline of the GAI sticker underneath.  One last try because now I'm desperate.  I grabed another Maz photo with a GAI sticker (sorry Bill) and a Moose Skowron 8x10 to test with (really sorry Moose).  I walked around my house looking for solvents to test with.  Finally stumbled upon my wife's nail polish remover.  Tested it on the Moose photo (a glossy photo) and no damage - wiped right off.  Got out the stickered Maz photo and like magic first the ink wiped off giving me a blank sticker and then the sticker melted right off along with the glue!!  Wiped the photo clean and you could never tell it was stickered.  I used Q-tips and 100% acetone nail polish remover.  I'm now experimenting with a Cepeda baseball.  I'll keep you posted if there are any residual effects on the photos and how the ball does.

24 hours later and the photos look fine.  This will work.  I found that after using the nail polish remover and getting the sticker off, Goo Gone did a first rate job of removing any residual glue.  After the Goo Gone I used a clean terry cloth towel to gently wipe the photograph clean.  I'll let you know in the future how I make out with balls.

Acetone does work on a ball.  Several key things.  First and foremost, remove the ink from the sticker using the 100% acetone nail polish remover but do not let the ink get on the leather so use a new Q-tip.  After the ink is off use a clean Q-tip to remove the sticker and then the adhesive.  There will be little or no evidence of the sticker having been present.  You'll go through a couple of Q-tips but the sticker will come off.  Good luck, Doug

P.S. I tried freezig a ball and it didn't do anything for me.  Anybody have any luck with the freezing method or know of another way?
