MICKEY MANTLE AUTHENTIC EXEMPLARS... READ ALL ABOUT IT!

I just wanted to post these here to see what Fudd the Lowly Mantle Collector can do to help stop the flood of forgeries into the market place. The goal is that we can all start educating ourselves before we buy. To see what a beautiful signature the Mick had, and to learn to distinguish it from the obvious forgeries at first glance. Something TTA, STAT, DREW MAX, GAI GLOBAL (Baker certs) My Favorite Players Reborn (Tony Podsada) & Christopher Morales can't seem to do....at all? You will almost never see a signature in this photo album collection that would match or come close to anything that has been certed by any of those guys. Maybe you'll find 1 in a 1000 if you're lucky. To tell the difference between what an original hand signed Photo by the Mick looks like vs. an obvious Fake at first glance is easy. Give it a try. It's Fun!

As has been told many times, The Mick made more in one signing than his dad did in 1 year. He felt obligated to his fans to give them a "work of art". He did this by signing on just the right spot for the particular photograph he was presented. The size of his signature was determined by how big the sweet spot was. He knew EXACTLY how to fit his signature in so it looked perfect. A thing of beauty really. Please note that these are not all the same signature over and over, but merely a sample from my collection. What I do know is that these are consistent with the WAY Mantle signed and structured his Autograph as we know it. Good luck! FUDD

So you guys say it's the real deal ? Would you recommend that I get it authenticated by PSA/DNA or someone else ? It has a COA from Hollywood Collectibles, but just in case I'm forced to sell it later on down the road I think I would prefer it be authenticated by another reliable source trusted by sports memorabilia collectors.  What do you think ?

Cee Gee,

You haven't even been a member of this site for 3 months yet, but you have quickly become an extremely valuable member. Thank you.

this one is tough.  it DOES have some positives.  If you are thinking of selling it I would definitely get it authenticated by one of the generally accepted authenticators.  I personally do not believe they are any better at rendering opinions than the talented people who have responded to your discussion, but having their document will definitely make it more sale-able.

What did you pay for it, Rhonda? Authentication will cost you $100 at PSA/DNA and $75 at JSA. It generally increases the value, but it doesnt' always make sense. I'd wait for more opinions here and then decide what to do.

That's exactly what I meant terrier, just the paperwork for the buyer's peace of mind even though I hope I never have to sell it. I completely trust the expertise here, that's why I love this site. Guys, sorry if it came across another way !!

Steve, I paid $576 for it. Ok, sounds like a plan. Thank you.

After seeing those pictures I am loving that Piece...although the Mickey is not as neat as the Mantle and looks to be rushed I feel its right as rain...if your ever looking to dump it and the price is right contact me anytime...no cert. Needed...

Thanks for the kind words Steve...that means a lot to me coming from you...I am truly flattered....I just wish I knew about this site years ago if it was even out back then...I am sure I would have saved a ton of cash on the fakes I gotten taken for many years ago when I didn't know better and trusted all autographs as authentic...it all comes down to experience...and unfortunately you got to get burned in this hobby to really start to learn...that's why I would like to give a helping hand in any which way that I can...I know I am far from perfect but I think I can give a 90% accurate opinion on Yankees in particular...also would like to add Christopher Williams videos before I knew about this site really opened my eyes about how bad the market really is...I think if it ever came down to questioning forgeries me and Mr. Williams would be like good cop bad cop...LOL

Steve, I have never seen a "killer" Mantle forgery.  And those Mickey Mantle autographs from those "other" websites aren't close to being or looking authentic.

Below is a PSA certed Mickey Mantle similar to the one presented here by Rhonda.
