Authenticity is Everything
Need help in submitting collectibles to authentication companies.
Hey all. This is my first major submission to an authentication company called "MEARS" and would like to know if anyone has had experience with them. Also, a general question, if an item fails a company's evaluation, are you entitled for a refund or are you stuck with it? I ask this because one of the items I am interested in selling costs $200 for an evaluation and a loss of $200 if it is deemed not authentic would be a huge blow. Generally you pay whether or not it passes. After all, they still have to do the work. If MEARS has a "quick opinion" sort of service, go with that first.

A failure is an opinion that requires just as much analysis as something that passes.
I believe the only time you would ever get a refund or credit with any authentication company is if they cannot render an opinion one way or the other.

Mears specializes in unsigned game-used items.

MEARS specializes in authentication and grading of game used equipment, uniforms, bats, etc. To the best of my knowledge, they are well-regarded in those circles. I do not know if they do autograph authentications.

MEARS, so I have heard, is great for game used/ or worn memorabilia. I checked with PSA/dna, they don't authenticate the piece I have. JSA, on the other hand, doesn't even authenticate any type of game-used memorabilia. The item I have was given to me from a friend who works as doorman in Jeter's apartment complex on 86th street Upper-east side in Manhattan. It's very odd as I don't think this clothing is sold in stores; its a mesh sort of fabric. When I get the chance I will post a couple of pictures of it.

It looks to be a warmup or batting practice sweater sort of thing. Pretty unique.

Mears is the best when it comes to game used memorabilia. All my game used bats and jerseys I use for them .

Listen psamiam/dna is only good for autographs.and it is an opinion a fact.for instance got an autograph in person,it was signed by sports star.sent it of to be authenticated,cost some money,guess what,i was told it was fake.wow,lost money to.even though i got it in person.psalm/dna is for the most part a good guess.but for the most part its good to get authenticated.but its not100% for sure.u believe it or not just because they say so
