The Authentic Experience
To all my pals here on AMLive & a few more in a land far far away!
May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!
whether you follow Abe's proclamation or others, I truly hope yours is a quiet, reflective, peacefull and joyous one filled with uneventfull incidents & family and friends;
Abraham Lincoln's Thanksgiving Proclamation
The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God. In the midst of a civil war of unequalled magnitude and severity, which has sometimes seemed to foreign States to invite and to provoke their aggression, peace has been preserved with all nations, order has been maintained, the laws have been respected and obeyed, and harmony has prevailed everywhere except in the theatre of military conflict; while that theatre has been greatly contracted by the advancing armies and navies of the Union.
Needful diversions of wealth and of strength from the fields of peaceful industry to the national defense have not arrested the plough, the shuttle, or the ship; the axe had enlarged the borders of our settlements, and the mines, as well of iron and coal as of the precious metals, have yielded even more abundantly than heretofore. Population has steadily increased, notwithstanding the waste that has been made in the camp, the siege and the battle-field; and the country, rejoicing in the consciousness of augmented strength and vigor, is permitted to expect continuance of years with large increase of freedom. No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy. It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and voice by the whole American People.
I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens. And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings, they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to his tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquility and Union.

Comment by DB on November 26, 2011 at 4:11pm no but try a chocolate kahula pecan pie... now that will keep you on the court for quite awhile....
Comment by mike aring on November 26, 2011 at 1:37pm that seems quite excessive!
Comment by Mr Zipper on November 26, 2011 at 9:54am I've had caramel pecan pie. In my view, it was a bit much. Pecan pie is super rich as-is. Adding the caramel really put it way over the top. LOL
Comment by roger epperson on November 26, 2011 at 9:23am Has anyone ever had "carmel pecan pie"? I love real pecan pie but this twist to a great dessert is the best pie I have ever had. Every 1200 calorie slice is worth having to run 10 miles to burn it off. I'm going to start training for a marathon so I can have 2 1/2 slices in one day.
Well there is a bit of good Thanksgiving news. The NBA has reached a "tentative" labor agreement. It looks like games are coming back for Christmas. This is loosely autograph related since NBA autographs are about the only ones I ever get in-person.
Comment by mike aring on November 26, 2011 at 6:57am just for ya all... didn't get kenny rogers... spent a month trying to figure out a name he travels under and everything... he stayed at a hotel in town... his guy wouldn't even let me ask him because kenny has a VIP package that you can buy to get autographs and a photo with him- as well as tickets to the show. and i snuck backstage just to not get him there either. what a waste of time. and before the show ended, i went to get OSU basketball players just to have EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM make an ebay call and not one player signed. and all this AFTER thanksgiving... you'd think everyone would be in a better mood. i gotta move out of this hell h***!
Comment by DB on November 26, 2011 at 4:30am Mike, thanks for putting the list back up ... now get to the gym!
Net was offline for nearly a few days and of course on all days but that way had to spend time chasing the young ones out of the woods before they got lost. Will have to teach them how to use a compass!
just noticed the following in a fairly full inbox.... something just seems so morally wrong...
Black Friday is Here! Bid Memorabilia & More AT the Excahnge Auctions
or better yet; AACS Autographs BLACK FRIDAY Specials ... I just muse as to the type of special the buyer is going to get on signed memorabilia.

Another Thanksgiving almost down. Time to hit the gym tomorrow.
Comment by mike aring on November 24, 2011 at 6:18pm i mean, seriously... i don't NEED to have guitars lying around the house. so i'm getting rid of the roger waters guitar, especially since i have like 5 signed albums and a few signed photos. plus, he's not signing guitars any longer. so i may as well sell it and see if people realize he's not signing guitars any longer. i just got mellencamp recently, and i was never all that enthused about the posters (that's all i could find last minute when i was in l.a. at one time) i got a few albums, so i should go ahead and sell the poster (i actually have 2 of them as well). i have limited space in my home, and i know i'm not going to go through the expense of framing everything.. so i should sell it off.. plus, i was a dealer before, so i don't have a problem getting rid of it. I don't need the money, so it's not like i'm selling it off for pennies on the dollar either.
