The selling on websites continue, but where are the autographed items?

KISS, Tom Petty, Bruce Spingsteen, Eagles, Aerosmith and so many other Rock and Roll bands and artists are flooding my email, and flooding the internet with their latest merchandise offered for sale, officially, from their websites. Shirts, jackets, caps, DVD's, albums, glasses and mugs, and everything you can think of, ......except autographed items. Obviosly these bands are out to make money, and lots of it. True, some of these items are left over from past tours, or just the lates recycled imprint of a past LP or picture we have all seen over the years. Whatever it is, it sells. However, why (I ask this, over and over and over) are these artists not selling autographed albums, photographs, tour books, drum heads and/or posters? Why do they stop short of selling anything that is autographed?

It is my opinion that these artists are part of the problem that they seemingly so despise (being asked for an autograph almost 24 hours a day on the streets), instead of part of the solution. What is your thoughts?

Comment by Steven Jackson on November 23, 2012 at 8:33am: I agree if they made them avalible themselves there would be alot the fakes and if they were at a fair price it might under cut dealers and hounds to the point they get left alone. I have talked to a number of friends about since the music industry claims to be hurting so much why every artist dosent just offer signed copies to get sales, or even make all the cds on the store shelves come already signed then it would lower the price of the sigs so low dealers wouldn't bother, fans got real autographs and the cd actually gets some more sales since people atleast get something extra for there money. It would cut there need to sign and be stopped for graphs by alot. Altough it would lead to more fans asking for pictures insted and I wouldn't doubt record companys would start selling sec sigs as authentic

The Alicw Cooper piece is the best thing I've ever seen, though $200 in shipping has me turned off a bit. And the $799 price tag is a bit steep. But damn it's cool.

I agree that it is a shame that more pieces are not available through other resources; this view coming from an in-person ONLY autograph collector! For me, if I didn't hand the item to the performer and see them sign it, I am just not interested.

That link takes you to Frontgate, who the Stones let sell it. Don't buy from them as you can usually be patient and the Stones website will have 20%-30% off sales. These lithographs are in the Exile on Main Street Deluxe Kit. There is a man on ebay who has them for about $1800, a pretty good deal, or the Stones British website has them at 1000 pounds, which is what, $1600? The American website forces you to buy a bigger set to get them and they are $2500 but you get some extras. If you just want the signed lithos, ebay is the place, though there is only one set available.

That sells unframed for $3500 on the Stones site and they have only three left or so. The ebay one is already museum framed..
