Janis Joplin Necklace, Ring and Autograph Sell on eBay for $7,800? + $6,500 Jim Morrison Shirts

What do you think about this lot of "Janis Joplin items", which apparently sold on eBay for $7,800?

The auction description from seller scott-tcbelvis:

I may only run this piece on ebay another 7 days if it doesn't sell this week. I've spoken to another large auction house, if it doesn't sell here I will be consigning it to them in Beverly Hills in their next Hollywood/Entertainment auction. Since there % is more, it will be starting with a minimum bid of 10k. Get it before the price increases. **
Here's an AMAZING Janis Joplin collection in one display case. Ready to hang and display is a Janis Joplin owned/worn necklace and ring !! Included is a cut signature/autograph signed simply "Love Janis Joplin". This piece (other than my Elvis Presley pieces), is one of the center pieces of my collection. The necklace has glass type beads (purple, green, orange and yellow) on a silver type chain. The ring is a burgundy colored stone set in a silver (semi decorative) setting. The necklace and ring are accompanied with a letter of authenticity from Seth Morgan (according to my research he was Janis's fiance at the time of her untimely death). Both the necklace and ring are accompanied with a letter from Seth Morgan. I purchased these back in the mid to late 80's from a collector/dealer I met in Chicago at a record show, who purchased them originally from Seth in the mid 70's. The cut signature/autograph I purchased in the early to mid 90's (I believe 93). The autograph is accompanied with a different COA. I originally purchased these for my mother, whom was a huge Janis Joplin fan. She passed away in 97' at which time I received them back. I have alway thought these should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, or displayed in a museum. A truly one of a kind rarity, that can be in your office or living room !! I am selling due to a fairly recent surgury and mounding medical bills. Everything will be shipped as seen in photos, except I will secure everything inside the case very well for their travels. The display case is approximately 14" wide, 27"tall and 4" deep. It to will be encased in bubble wrap and packed VERY well. Thank you for taking the time to look. If you love music and music memoribillia, don't forget to check out my other auctions/Sales as I have ammased an amazing collection over the last 35+ years I've been collecting, buying/selling. My collection is probably 80% however Elvis Presley, so if you like Elvis, keep checking back. I will be listing stuff weekly (hopefully). Thanks again...

Here's an authentic Janis autograph on the left along with the one included in this auction.

This seller bought fake MJ items from Joe Hendrix for super cheap and tried to flip them (he paid peanuts for it).  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Michael-Jackson-Jackson-Signed-Check-1991-P... So who knows where he got this from and/or what story he was fed.

In this case, the seller claims to have owned these items for quite some time. The "autograph" was supposedly purchased in the mid-90's. The authentic example I posted just happens to have appeared at auction fairly recently.

Yep I read it all originally.

I've added the photos of this sellers MJ item - just for completeness.  Mainly because its in a similar type case and he used a quick opinion screen cap - which could be from anything or altered.  Though I have no idea if it was.  I just remembered his name.

Thanks for posting it. It looks like the MJ may have been removed by eBay. I didn't think the Janis lot would actually sell, especially for that kind of money.

Thanks, Wascher.

Side note: The display on that MJ piece is awful.

I'm thinking what you're thinking...but you did all the work.

Ballroom, you never cease to amaze me.

Thanks for posting this.

I think Ballroom was a detective in another life.

bllrm is a detective in this life

Thanks!
Elementary my dear Watson.

We need a new show to replace "Pawn Stars" called "Rock and Roll Detective" where each week new forgeries are rooted out and the dealers end up shamed (or hopefully in jail).

Wishful thinking....
