I bought this signed photo recently off of eBay, only because I was able to find an almost identical PSA certified version to compare it to, which looks quite comparable to me. I would appreciate for the Arnie experts out there to tell me if I actually got the genuine article or not. Thanks!!

I've included both for comparison:

they both look off to me, are they both from the same seller?

Thanks for the reply. The first is from what seems to be a very reputable dealer who only sells PSA/DNA items (as this one is). The second is the one I bought.

How reputable Press Pass is remains a matter of debate.  You'll find some less than flattering commentary and insight about them on this forum.

hi Greg, So you have the 2nd image that you have uploaded what is from the 1st terminator movie? and not the T2 image what's psa/dna?

That's correct. The reason I bought it, even though it looked odd, was that it closely matched the PSA/DNA version. So I'm just wondering if in fact mine is genuine as well?

That also has me wondering, how do the folks at PSA/DNA certify signatures that look SO different from the usual way that a particular person signs. I know we can't be 100% the same all the time, but some actors have so many different versions, it always amazes me how they can be deemed genuine?

PSA/DNA authenticates on the basis of the source, not the signature itself in many instances. In the case of Press Pass, who appears to have an "in" with PSA, there seems to be many head scratchers in the authentication realm.  It seems that there's a lot of trust and not enough caution - or else Press Pass is feeding PSA so much cash that they don't really care either way.

That's a very useful insight Rich, thanks. The dealer I bought this one off of is called Celstop, who I believe is out of Spain. They have a 100% rating, but as I've now found out, that doesn't mean too much, unfortunately. Here's a link to that one: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/131819311624

The 100% rating means nothing. People who bought forgeries don't know they're forgeries when they get them - or else they wouldn't have purchased them. They care about the condition and shipping speed and hence have no reason to give negative feedback.

So true! But if a 100% rating is meaningless, and someone who sells all PSA/DNA items is also suspect, then how is it for someone such as myself who is just starting out hope to find dealers that they can trust? Is there a 'go to' list on here which can help us out? Thanks!

It's a minefield, and most of us here have stepped on our share of mines over the years.

Focusing on PSA/JSA would generally help keep you safe, but there are safer ways to go about this. Two things I'd recommend is focusing on older, better examples of celebrity signatures so they actually can be authenticated on the basis of the signature, and/or finding top rate in-person collectors with great reputations. As many bad eggs as there are polluting Ebay, there are plenty of legit guys who do the work to get this stuff.

Joining the RACC group on Facebook is also helpful for connecting you to in person sellers.

Thanks again for the great advice Rich!

Btw, would you also care to offer your professional opinion on the other signatures I've shared in this thread?

Thanks again!

I'm not especially knowledgeable in any of those. I do have a Shatner, but I'm not sure how helpful that is.
