Just wanting to share a special evening with this forum... and an autograph obtained. My family & I went to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner tonight... towards the end of our meal, I notice a WW2 vet pass by in his scooter & the back of his jacket reads Pearl Harbor Survivor. Right off the bat, I'm mesmerized. Come to find out he had just finished a book signing at Barnes & Noble & I am sitting next to Navy Lt. Jim Downing. A friend of his at the table started telling me his story & im immediately showing tears in my eyes. His aide asked if I'd like an autograph & I was like ABSOLUTELY. I asked if they would mind if I went and purchased his book at Barnes & Noble to have him sign it for me & she said they had sold out. She must have seen the disappointment in my eye & replied "I have some in my car, would you like soft or hardback?" HARDBACK if it's not much trouble I replied! She brought it back & he signed it for me. I'm on cloud nine & this may be one of my favorite autographs in my collection now! I'm still amazed at his condition & it's humbled me to imagine what this man experienced in his lifetime.
Never Ever forget what our soldiers go through & have gone through... I'll forever cherish this in my collection & will always appreciate any soldier. God Bless them all...
Off to read my new book, HAPPY AUTOGRAPH COLLECTING!
