Hello all,

I just recently found this site and have been delighted so far as I look to get into autograph collecting!  I was wondering if anyone could please give their opinion on this Macca signed Hofner bass.  It comes with a full LOA from James Spence.  Much appreciated.

Sometimes it is Cuban. Sometimes not. Vantage.

Someone posted the McCartney guitar Richard Steele was asking about in RACC for opinions. I've reposted the image at the top of this discussion.

It's another "High In the Clouds" guitar.

Steve C. sent me an image of a Macca "signed" guitar from Pristine Auctions and I was able to match the signature to one from a copy of "High in the Clouds." Well, I just found a second example from the same auction house. Apparently this goes back to August of last year.

From Pristine Auctions:

The matching signed book was sold by StrawberryWalrus.com.

Well done Ballroom. Any higher red scans of book and  guard?

Unfortunately, that's the only scan I have of the book, which is from the Strawberry Walrus site. Here's a link to the Pristine auction listing.

Well well well. This has certainly been an eye opener for me. I would never have guessed that these scanners trace a genuine signature onto multiple items. It's a big business and it's fraud. I wonder how hard it would be to take it to the next level and report this to the police FBI whom I'm sure would be interested in shutting this down. About 10 - 15 years ago I had the RCMP investigate a forger out of New Brunswick. Frank Caiazzo was helping me out and we got that guy shut down. It was a small victory for the good guys!

So far we haven't found the same book autograph on more than one guitar.

That's true, and all have been US copies. No UK copies so far.

Fab432, no evidence yet that these people are duplicating or multiplying items at all. Yet to be determined whether they are just cutting these signed pages and physically affixing the original signature to pickguards.

That latest one is another example that aligns with that possibility. You can even see the blue on the pickguard from the book logo, which likely wouldn't be there if they were duplicating the signatures.

Perhaps Strawberry Walrus would be willing to tell us when the book was sold. The LOA is dated 7/25/16. The book may have been sold after that date.
