Hello everyone.
I've recently purchased this letter which is in the post. I would like to know your opinion on it. It was the major part of the purchase with other Elvis related items.

I also got this from the same seller. Seems like the col had a friend after all.

Hey Andrew...I think the Elvis note is a German forgery...

There are a number of these types of letters that were forged by our friend Hans Bakker floating around...

I have never seen Elvis write the word "gonna" ever...doesn't make sense to me...

I think the forger was just trying too hard here...

I really don't know. What I do know is mister Schmidt was the owner of the hotel Grunewald in 1958 and elvis stayed there until told to leave after a fire got out of control when the lads were messing around.
But this was all hushed up so who would of known about Schmidt.
I have never seen him sign respectfully either.
I agree with Don. This looks like one of the Hans Bakker written forgery items.

Best wishes, Richard.
Are there any examples of Hans Becker letters? I've seen forged autographs but never a letter. I'm new at this so it's all still a learning curve.
Thanks Andy

Andy...he did sign "Respectfully" on occasion...that is not in question...

How far back can you actually source this item??

Is a gentleman by the name of Jurgen Keilwerth involved any where in the mix??

No this is from an unknown in England. It looks like he ia outing all his music, autographs etc. Sun 45s including the rarer variety are going for $12. Not so many autographs but they are cheap also. The Col letter which I uploaded above was $30.
Not even advertised as anything but E... strange!
No german connection at all as far as I know except the letter there.
I have also a letter from Tom Diskin to Ed Bonja on the col headed paper in regards to recording session coming up.
I have spoken to Ger Rjiff on occasion and he thinks the col letter is genuine article. But not said anything about the letter as yet as I haven't shown him for opinion.

Here is a passage from Careless Love by Peter Guralnick. The bottom paragraph.

For what it is worth Andy I agree that the Colonel letter is likely genuine...

But I have major reservations about the Elvis item...

Did you enquire from the seller about the history of the Elvis item? If not you should...

If you speak to Ger again ask him if he is familiar with Mr. Keilwerth...

Yeah I will thanks for your help.
I've just read a thread on line and both Ernst and Ger know of Jurgen.

I have no doubt that Ger knows of Mr. Keilwerth...

What I'm suggesting and I should have perhaps been more direct is since he offered you his opinion on the Colonel letter...I'm confident he would do the same with your Elvis item...

It's just my hunch but I have a feeling that somewhere in the past that Mr. Keilwerth might be a part of your item...
