I came across this in a list of "sold" items on eBay. One of those occasions when you get something nice from a seller and then look back at the items they've sold previously. This can cause massive grief when you see what you've missed of course

Not sure if the attached item was ever discussed here but I find it quite interesting as Hendrix has just written Jimi and in a very rushed way. I don't remember seeing a Jimi that is so rushed.

The album page sold for £480 with lots of bids so I presume it is real - the Redding certainly looks OK to me. I'm not sure I would have actually wanted it, as the eye appeal is limited to say the least, but £480 seems cheap.

I found a couple of interesting quotes about the gig in a blog, the first of which may explain Jimi's rushed effort:

- Noel Redding, Bass player in the Jimi Hendrix Experience wrote in his diary after the shows this night: 'Sheffield was terribly enthusiastic about us and we got torn apart coming out of the hall, losing clothing, glasses, hair. I always wondered what would happen if the detachables and semi-detachables (like hair) ran out'

An unknown reporter of the Sheffield Star noted: 'Like an electrified golliwog,  Jimi Hendrix threw himself into a live-wire act that featured his intricate guitar interpretation. Quite an EXPERIENCE'.

Thank God journalists can't write like that anymore!!! The blog is here with links to other entries:

Did anyone actually see Jimi play? I was 8 when he died so I didn't. I can imagine those early UK gigs would not have been quite as wild or powerful as you'd hope - small amps and very short sets. I did read that you could hardly hear him when he played in a big hall in Zurich, Switzerland. As a younger pug I spent countless hours listening to Hendrix In The West. Now I much prefer Band of Gypsies.

Everybody agree it is real? Anybody got similar rushed examples?

Looks great!!
Jimi has signed like it before.
Love this and a bargain for the price!

It looks real to me, especially with the nice Noel signature. I think it's the most rushed one I've seen.

Paul, do you have images of any similar Jimi's? I'm beginning to wish I'd seen this when it was up for auction. It's growing on me by the minute!
