Authenticity is Everything
Add Beckett to the bad COA list- Check out this Paul!
This is obviously the Southern California forger getting his items now authenticated by Beckett! Seeing as these guys used to work at PSA/DNA, I think its probably a risk to trust either source without a 3rd party from one of the experts that we all know!

This one flies against the norms of convention. Not only does it look more and more horrible the closer you get to it, but the farther away you get from it the worse it looks. :)
This one is a great example of the space, shape, and linear proportions; the architecture of a signature, the macro-aspect of the signature being off. You don't need to see the intricacies, this and that letter or connection being off. Getting lost in the details, so to speak. From afar, the entire shape can be seen, even at a glance, that this is not Paul.

Well whether it is based on trust or bsd exampler files or whatever else...We are seeing clear fakes with coas from (generally) trusted companies on the market.
We here are smart enough to wuestion authenticity, but the passive collector looking for a Waters or McCartney are buying based on those stickers and good faith. Which in turn devalues legitimate examples. It is all one big rotten game.

That's right! The novice collector may look at a trusted list and see a Beckett or psa dna and possibly end up with a forgery.

If collectors buy solely based on the opinions of PSA or Beckett there is a good chance they have already bought forgeries and will again.

They don't show you their exemplar file. We just here about the mythical thing. I bet there isn't one built for a good chunk of the stuff they authenticate.
Hard to believe they have these files built for all these first year minor league players yet they'll charge you and sticker the stuff. Same with all the music act. I bet they use EBAY or google as their exemplar file on a lot of things.
One of the authenticating companies mentioned here authenticated 300 items for a friend of mine overnight in a hotel room with a 100% pass rate. I'd post all the names but would rather have permission first. Much of that stuff was impossible to authenticate. Sloppy in person sigs. Dropped the stuff off at 8:30 at night and picked up next day at 8. Even if that goof worked all night that is 25 items an hour. A hair over two minutes per signature without even subtracting bathroom, smoke or snack breaks. Yet collectors think these guys are out there protecting them or the integrity of the hobby. Authenticating companies and their flunky authenticators have become one of the largest scams in autograph collecting. The money they rake in annually dwarfs the largest forgery scams we've seen.
