Is anyone going (or has gone) to Roger Waters Us and Them Tour and gotten autographs? If so, any tips?

I may go to one of the Chicago shows at the United Center, or the St Paul show. Any idea where to look for him or what times? Is it better to check the venue or hotel?

Thanks for any help!

so disheartening to keep up with this thread... i had purchased my waters a few years ago (in a now infamous AML moment!), so i didn't have to go out to get him on this tour, but since LA seems to have been before all these shenanigans, i do now wish i had.

funny thing is, i was anti-dealer for a good long while, and it took RACC and getting to know some of the cats there to understand their POV. i came around to it for the most part, but to exploit homeless people in such a fashion is just really the lowest of the low. i'd like to think if I had seen some of that in front of me, i'd try to do something, anything, to stop it, but who knows, what can one do in that instance to be vigilant?

either way, there's a special circle of autograph hell for these scuzz, here's hoping they'll get theirs someday!

I would like to know what´s the dealers point of view.... every fan can´t be there so they should be able to buy it, and that´s why we are here to satisfy them? I dont accept this argument when their "work" has these consequences... It simply lacks any basic level of human dignity and decency. There is only way how to stop this - to stop buying from dealers. I have no issue with fan who ocassionaly sells or exchange something, but obtaining autographs with intention to sell it - it´s NOT ok under any circumstances.

Well said Peter, i couldn't agree more!!
Dont believe the racc hype!
What is the racc website? I'd be curious to read it. I can only see selling autographs if you go out and get maybe 3 tops between yourself and maybe some friends or hire someone to get one for you. When they hire homeless and exploit them, they don't know they're getting paid $20 to get something worth $300 they could have just sold themselves. Then to top it off almost have fights going on right across the street and collecting dozens of autographs right outside the gate is pretty pitiful. One fat guy was standing right by the gate collecting from homeless where Roger could probably easily see. It's disrespectful on top of doing something scummy.

If you're going to pay them go to the end of the block don't shove it down everyone's throats. But I imagine they're the type of people who could care less... I seen some signing videos by a YouTube channel called Stupid Famous People. No wonder they don't want to sign. I wouldn't either if I was nice enough to sign and seen myself on stupid famous people. They were bragging they were the reason Roger don't sell baseball's, because they got one then sold it on eBay the next day for $300
Racc is on Facebook, but they will boot you off for talking about this, you have to kiss the admins ring and tell them how wonderful their site is.

Real Autograph Collectors Club (RACC) is a group on Facebook that has members who buy, sell and discuss autographs. You can hit the button and apply to join. If your interested in autographs it can be interesting to read. Members are individuals with different opinions just like here. You can have a difference of opinion with people, they just ask your respectful. Many members here also are members there including Steve.

Roger has been happily taking care of dealers for decades. He was always very blatant and intentional about it, too. Signing stacks of pickguards, bass guitars, vinyl, and everything and anything else for years and years, every time you approached, fully knowing it was supporting the guys there and going to fans on eBay.

Recently a "collector" grapher in Chicago told Waters' security that dealers were putting out ads on CraigsList for workers, because he intentionally wanted to ruin him. It worked.

This person who intentionally ruined Waters is also someone who was banned from every major autograph group on Facebook for accepting loads of consignments from fans on Buddy Guy and then stealing everyone's money.

It's always the miserable people who have the most to say.

As for SFP on YouTube, it's mainly just a paparazzi/gossip channel whose primary demographic are teenage girls who love Justin Bieber. I don't think Waters is watching it, or really cares if there's videos of him signing autographs on there.

That Waters ball you're talking about sold for $475 actually. I took my family to a Yankees game with that money and we had a great day. The fan who bought it was thrilled to have a ball signed by Roger with exact video proof showing the exact signature being signed. That's all that post was about actually.

If Paul ran an autograph group, it would be filled with hatred and negativity. RACC booted Paul because of his consistently anti-social, rude behavior. If you search for "RACC" on AML, you will find Paul making false and negative comments about RACC on every single thread, continuing on in spite. I don't know what's up with him, but it's definitely a personal issue that he should try to overcome.

If you join RACC, you'll just find 6,000+ fans and collectors who love music and autographs. Less than 5% are full-time dealers.

Not sure if you run SFP but this is the comment I was referring to (screenshot below)... And either way it's kind of a shitty thing to do. Try to make money off them but call them stupid. Then act like you're happy that you ruined people getting their baseballs signed and brag that you sold it for $400. Like I said not sure if that's you or someone else but if I were famous and seen that I'd stop signing too.

Roger must have changed his mind on supplying dealers supposedly there was a video of him saying "Tell your eBay friends to f*** off" or something like that from St. Paul. I don't know if he looks at stuff being sold on eBay or someone else does and tells him... But I noticed he threw the pig mask he wears out on earlier concerts... Then someone sold one on eBay for decent amount bitching about his politics... All the shows I went to (Chicago, St Paul) which were after that, he didn't throw it out in the crowd, he threw his champagne glass. Could just be a coincidence. But there's gotta be a reason why he stopped signing pick guards and stuff. He also said awhile back he was only signing albums and they'd be personalized because of dealers. But he didn't stick to that... anyway, well never know for sure what he's doing or thinking but bottom line is it sucks that was ruined for real fans. Which was due to greed.

He made a rule 1 per person, not 1 per person plus as many people as you can round up. People took advantage blatantly in plain sight.

Yes he is the founder of Stupid famous people.

Sorry man, but you dont get it. If someone told him that dealers have adverts on Craiglist for people who would do this - then the issue is NOT that someone told him, the issue is that dealers have these adverts anywhere!!! Do you get it now? Dealers who had these adverts ruined it (because their incredible greed when they tried to bypass his one per person rule), not the guy who told him how it goes now!

RW lost his incredible patience with dealers during the previous The Wall Tour, he even released statement on his facebook regarding to this - and situation on THIS tour is obviously even worse.

Obviously the situation in 2017 is FAR different than it was for Waters for years and years and years. The guy used to sign LOADS of items and didn't mind dealers at all. He would run through every single item you had and be happy to stand around and wait while you flipped stacks of vinyl, pickguards, or even carried 1 guitar body up to him after another.

Just as one example of how nice he was... the first time we ever met him we were standing outside a hotel in Boston and holding pickguards to get a different musician on, and Roger came out and walked up to us and asked us if we wanted him to sign the pickguards. We didn't see him. He came up to us. We were taken aback by it, especially when he then went on to happily sign every single pickguard we had (30+) and chatted with us the entire time while he signed. I remember we were all laughing together, including Roger. I called a friend of mine after Roger left and explained what happened, he said "Of course. Waters is always like that." I moved to NYC after that and ended up seeing Roger about 50 different times, and it was always the same thing. Stacks and stacks and stacks and relentless generosity. (I'm not sharing this to be braggadocious either, merely stating his habits in my experience.)

So yeah, a different world.

The situation in 2017 is obviously a total disaster. Would you happen to have a screenshot of the CraigsList ad? I thought it was strange that a grapher would allegedly post a detailed ad and include the name "Roger Waters" in it, but I guess it's possible. They would either have to be incredibly stupid, or the person who told Waters was just lying about it. And yes, I think you should consider the intention of the person who told him this story. The person is also a seller. Not a fan. They acted out of spite and jealousy of other sellers who were getting 10 items signed versus their 1. The only real intention they had was to stop the other seller from getting 9 extra albums. They didn't actually care about Roger.

Regardless, you have to maintain some perspective, too. Whenever people can simply line up and wait to get something which holds a high value, you will inevitably find some people paying other people to stand in line. It happens with valuable sneakers and valuable Apple products and there's no reason why valuable autographs would be any different really.

It's not the end of the world, really. It's just maybe the end of these silly lines. You can still go inside and enjoy the show.
