UPDATE 9/16/17: Waters Signed Abt 12 Graphs @ Nassau Tonight. ONE FOR ME!

A fan's story:

Yes! I got up, threw myself into a borrowed ride with literally 2 minutes notice, no ticket and no way home, grabbed the latest Wall documentary/concert ready from yesterday's non-signing event, withstood a deluge of rain on the line...but managed to get the DVD signed large in silver w/o getting it wet! The 12"x12" flat seemed a truly bad choice in the rain - the DVD had a plastic bag so that was that. I said "Thank you, Mr. Waters" 3 times, but he was yelling about eBay. Someone, perhaps right after me, tried to get two and Waters just drove off. Maybe he did 12 all together. I then waited for it to dry and started working on getting home safely. Got to hear a good chunk of soundchecks too - Breathe, Welcome to the Machine and some bits of others.

Pictures soon :) It will go nicely alongside my signed Gilmour DVD!

Hi Paul,

Well, it was signed in silver paint in a deluge of rain and humidity. Once I am satisfied it is in fact dry, I will place the DVD cover insert back into its correct case from the rather nifty thing I made to house it in for signing, and then I can take some images. Call me careful but the idea of silver sticking... ;)

I am also very tired!

Sorry Paul, I missed this. Here you go: Rough scan - there is another post about it. Should have kept it all here. Oh well. It is still in the thing I made to get it signed - will look better.

Hi Folks, I don't have much paint pen. Would it be wise to slip a bit of acid free paper in between the autograph and the plastic DVD sleeve during storage, that could easily be slid out (picture a longer slip, like with a tab) for showing/viewing?

I believe I recall Steve Z. and/or Pete C. talking about these things sticking - nightmare. Suggestions?

Acid free paper being pulled in and out sliding over the graph ......not a good idea.

Storing it in the cheap plastic coating used on the dvd box.....also not the best idea.

Get a nice mat or double mat that will keep the glass/plexi from touching the graph and work it out so that it goes in a nice display with two windows maybe one for Roger and one for Dave and your favorite image or album cover above the two signed dvds.

Thanks Pete. My collecting goal is to keep these things as "intact products".

Suppose the paper is never moved? Is the idea (to prevent sticking) sound?

And in all honesty, I am the only one who would ever look at this, and I rarely if ever look at my graphs. I'm content to view scans.

I would get a Mylite comic book bag... these are thin bags made of pure mylar, which is as archival as you can get. Very thin and crystal clear.

Next, cut a piece from the Mylite bag the same size as the paper insert.

Place the mylar piece BETWEEN the paper sleeve and the plastic of the DVD case.

Presto. The silver signature will never stick to the mylar and you can display it as intended. If you skillfully cut the mylar insert, no one would ever know it was there.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really, thank you, Sir. This allows me to keep the collection as intended. I will use this for all. You have saved my collection. I did NOT want framed things taken out of context etc.

Awesome. Let me know how it works.

The signature looks to be signed in silver sharpie, I don't have any results to share on the storage of sharpie graphs under mylar or mylite, but the classic paint pens stored in mylite and mylar I can show you.

That was stored in a mylite magazine bag.

and this one was in a mylar sleeve...

I know it's not what you want to hear, but the best possible storage idea for your signed paint pen autographs is having nothing up against it, nothing touching it, and keeping it in a constant temperature with no humidity level changes.

Mylar is 100% inert... there is no way it could have interacted chemically with the ink/paint from the signature. This looks more like rubbing from movement or humidity and/or heat caused the paint pen to soften (and thus be more susceptible to rubbing damage).

I have many paint pen and silver sharpie sigs in mylar sleeves for 15+ years and never had an issue.
