My friend bought it at sotheby's about 15 years ago.
Is it real or fake ?

(I know this is an old thread but for future reference) it looks similar to the sketches he did when learning Japanese - published as 'ai Japan through John Lennon's Eyes A Personal Sketchbook' (writing is similar to the earlyier sketches) so possibly from the same time.

Actually, it looks pretty good to me, his style but of course there's no signature which is what I'm used to checking.
