Station to Blackstar: David Bowie Signature Study 1976 - 2015 2024 - / POST AP/TF FORGERY PROBLEM

Hello,

I have been meaning to make this for some time. A chronological composite of David Bowie signatures from the mid 70's on to 2015. It is not as complete or neat as I'd like (not enough of earlier material for one) and I will add more observations regarding the signatures, but they are genuine and it does manage to show the evolution from C. 1976 on through the decades. There are scans and photographs of signed albums, album pages, playbills, IP, business cards, inserts, lithographs, books, scraps, photos, cards and a guitar. Various markers, pens and pencil. There are "open" and "closed" B' examples and some bits of handwriting also. I hope it is useful to you. The forgeries out there (pre 2018) are largely of very poor quality, and usually fail from a lack of understanding regarding angle, basic construction and form. These examples are almost all dated. My favorites, oddly, are the 1983, 1993, 2003 and 2013 examples. The first 1993 example (with "open B") is in my collection and I like it because it appears a bit of a throwback in form and with that "o", and the bottom of the "B" looks like an axe blade. Comments and additions welcome. Click to see full image.

And now another 1976:

Here is a very unusual full David Bowie signature from June of 1995. It is on a lottery ticket Bowie deliberately left as a gift to the Warhol Museum - left inside an original Andy Warhol jacket worn while playing Warhol in the film "Basquiat".

It is interesting to compare the above 1995 lottery signature with the 1979 signed still below to note the formation/connection of the "Bo" as mentioned earlier.

Here is a portion of a 1973 full Bowie signature that shows an early form of the looped "Bo" connection that would remain throughout his career in one form or another, as seen in the '76, '78, 83, '93 and 2010 examples below.

I thought these images I prepared, albeit roughly and incompletely by far, should be added here in this inclusive thread. Sorry for any double post. Forgery examples, things to observe, to note IMO. Important I believe.

"Alarming" "Bowie" coming from Fl. Based on a specific ISOLAR card. We have seen this seller many times:

Here is an original authentic ISOLAR card by Bowie sent out with promo copies of Black Tie/White Noise. There were several of this signing style in those batches of cards. This example was sold in August 2016 for $249:

Here is a very rough scale composite. Much wrong with paint pen "Let'a Dance" but I won't say what. You Bowie folk will pick them out easily enough, and there are many to see. The source is in Florida and pumps thses out since 2016. Not "22bloo" but R.D.etc in FL.

Here is another composite showing the 1977-1979 period and a 1980 to show where his style was heading:

Hi All,

the Lodger promo sleeve above (lower left) closed for some $450 or so - the SP below, much like mine but not quite as mint, just brought $700 + at RR.

1979 lithograph signature - very rare:

Hello I found this sketch to day I need some help I’m hoping it was done in David’s hand? It reads what I think is Stardust then the date of 10/21/95 for Rudy the Bello Alto!! Love xxx and what I think is David signature? It was a local donation to a local thrift shop  near Santa Barbara. Any help would be welcomed
