Hi there,

Are these authentic  early ELP signatures?  The programme itself is worth the asking price.

Everything about this says authentic to me including the fading biro's used. Keith and Greg's signatures have remained consistent for years and allowing for signing this "on the rush" I think it's highly likely to be genuine. Attached is a much more recently published print that they all signed which I own.

That's a great piece Mark and one I've been trying to get for some time. Maybe one day.

I agree Keith remains consistent almost from the beginning.

"Greg" remains fairly consistent while his "Lake" has so many variables that seems dependant on his mood as he was a very moody guy.

And Carl Palmer has definitely changed the most.

I'm really glad you commented Mark as your opinion is valuable.

But for me, would I be confident enough to put my money down on this piece?

I agree - the inconsistencies in the sellers story do not help but I do think they are good. I will ask the seller a similar question and see what they come up with and report back here. The poster was acquired at a small auction house in the UK for just £200...bargain!

Cheers, Mark

This just came back - a cut and paste of their earlier response...:

New message from: mousebender-1 (126Turquoise Star)

Hi there Mark, I am 63 years old. I went to see ELP in the Capitol Theatre Cardiff when I was 16, the night before sitting my French O level. All 3 members if the band signed my poster after the concert. The poster was on my walk for a while and has been in my possession ever since.

indeed that's the exact reply I received (copy n paste)

thanks for doing this Mark

Yes I had the same reply but then asked a further question regarding how she met them and asked if she waited for them after the show, then got second reply. she must think there will be lots of people going to bid on it. Lol

Mark likes them

I could go either way and am afraid to commit to a final decision

I will be honest... If the bidding stays low, I think these are worth the gamble if you can't get a definitive answer. These are the earliest set of sigs I have ever come across and are pretty darn special.

yes she must be excited about the inquires haha

Wow mark beautiful item, that and BSS surely must be up there with the greatest ever album art, that must be a truly treasured piece.

this is probably the best advice

send them to Roger and be done with it

It's obvious how special this set is and we all know it

I'd love to see you get these although I would be envious haha

Got this reply back from Roger..

"Wow, that’s really nice, Authentic"

He doesn't usually comment on anything I send him so it must be good!
Have put a bid on.

With his reaction like that, that's an assured 100% Legit answer. He must really personally like it as well.

Fanatstic news and best of luck getting it.

It's obvious which side of the fence I'm on now and can rest in peace haha

Well fingers crossed, I will let you know if I win it and will post some better pictures if I do. Many thanks for all your imput and advice on this. I like the fact that's it been up on a teenagers wall and enjoyed I will do the same.
