Not sure why a 007 group wasn't created before, but I'm glad it's finally here! Why not get the ball rolling with the greatest Bond of all, Sean Connery...just wondering if this might be an actual one of his? Thanks!

If the price is anywhere near a signed "Being a Scot" book then I know what choice I'd make.

there's one on ebay right now but the guy didn't post a photo of the sig which is odd

If your signed note is a tad expensive... would you be comfortable looking at that inscription?

Remember that Connery not long ago where the best wishes and sean looked ok but the connery was very smooth? And Pete said it was fake. This one reminds me of that example.

But if you trust the seller then that could make the difference and if he allows a return if proven fake.

No pressure. One thing I've learned over time, if you pass on one there's another right around the corner. I will probably pass on the banknote. Got a few other irons in the fire anyway. Still, I've enjoyed the discussion.

Ok, back to that forger in NY for a minute. If you’ll notice under his ‘GraphWizardCollectibles’ Ebay page, it looks like he’s selling a genuine Connery bookplate, which has been certed by JSA! He’s included a photo of the reverse of the bookplate, so anyone out there who’s got it, can you confirm it came from his book? So, this leads me to the question, are all the bookplates out there secretarials, and he's passing this one off just like all the other ‘Best Wishes’ ones? Or is this in fact a rare genuine article he’s selling to take the heat off of all his other fakes?

This seller sells both genuine and fake autographs. I think he buys real ones and uses them to forge better. I do not believe, from what I've heard, that any of his books are secretarial signed. Although there is a decent chance that someone will forge them. My advice, stay away from this seller and their partners unless you are absolutely sure that the signature is real. I wouldn't even buy a real one from them myself.

Yep it’s correct- and the back page is accurate from the book. I’m not sure of the sensibleness of cutting it out of the book though- significantly de values the item.

But I concur, I would generally stay well away from this seller- Notice the starting bid for what he knows is authentic vs the buy it now of the photos he knows are questionable.

On a side note- I used to think jsa were up there with psa. Of late, the stuff I’ve seen authenticated by them is garbage- I no longer have any faith in them at all. Especially Connery stuff... it’s elementary mistakes being made.

We can blame eBay for the excessive influence of JSA, PSA, and Beckett. It certainly has changed the marketplace. Not for the better. New collectors don't take the time to learn the hobby, they just buy into the sticker mentality.

Many people are butchers these days as well.

Just cut the sig and sell it.

NO regard to inscription or the item its on.

I actually had someone say cut my Syd Barrett sig out of a rare personally owned book from his library.

And some other person said take the handmade cover off so he could see the book cover

Does anyone know anything about these sealed editions of Being A Scot , from what I am being told they are very limited and instead of a signed book plate , which of course is standard for the books , it comes with a signed photo by Connery which is a binded in the book

the book also comes with a hard slipcase

I believe the signature appears to be genuine. I find the idea of inserting a signed photo in a first edition book direct from the publisher a bit different especially since there are also signed bookplates as well. I would be interested in learning more about the issue history of these various formats.

I am also intrigued that Connery would agree to a James Bond photo to sign. He worked hard to break the "Bond" stereotype and would think he would have preferred a different photo. JMO.
