I saw this today at an antique store. Can anyone help me out with opinions on authenticity?

Hey Mike. This is just a copy of a piece of Elvis' personal stationary that the Beatles signed for a member of Elvis'"Memphis Mafia" when they met in L.A. on August 27, 1965. They have conveniently covered Presley's name at the top...and the date.

Agreed. The original sold through Heritage Auctions.

Never buy expensive autographs at antique shops, swap meets, or anywhere else without checking here first!

Mike,

We're all glad you asked before you bought that. I agree with what Bruce Juice said, and then some. Get outside opinions on authenticity no matter what you buy unless you're good at authenticating that autograph yourself.

Thanks Steve. I appreciate your comment. I knew that this item was a red flag since it wasn't priced between $2000-$5000....or more.

Thanks again,

Mike

Pretty damn sneaky, copying and framing these signatures, especially a set as famous as those. I wonder if the shop got snookered or this was a consignment and how it was framed (with a photo, ticket, etc.)? Regardless, this is another prime example of why checking here FIRST is so important before purchasing any Beatles autographs.

It's my opinion that they were trying to pass the signatures off as being authentic.

Wow. Thanks to everyone who replied. This is why I love this website. On a side note, I was not going to buy this item. The listed price was the dead giveaway for me that it was not real. ($30.00) I did however, take a closer look because I am somewhat aware of the Beatles signatures but by no means an expert. The item was in an area where I could not examine it closely and had to take a picture of it leaning as close as I could. It caught my attention because the signatures themselves did not look like immediate forgeries and, for this reason, is why I thought I'd post it for opinions. It did shock me a little that its a TOTAL COPY of an original piece. (Thanks Jim Cushman!)
