I have not collected John. What is the value of his autographs?

I'm assuming this is an 8x10 inch, correct? Appears to be some fading, a few surface creases, and probably edge damage. Hard to tell since it's framed. Is it a regular photo or magazine photo?

I would have them remove it from the frame and send you good scans of the front and back.

I'm thinking in the neighborhood of $700 - $900.

I have bought so many forgeries, I was not going to waste $$$ on an autograph that I am unfamiliar with. SMDH

I'm sorry too. Joe said "...ready...". Ready and, I believe Joe will agree here, prepared to identify and collect the signature sought and any opinions needed along the way. Buying in haste or under a time rush is seldom a good idea.

Risk versus reward. Depends on who is selling and their return policy. I try not to pursue autographs without preparation. Gosh, $75 John Wayne autographs don't come around often.

Unfortunately i cannot search items once they are removed. I know someone got a bargain within 100 miles of me.

It was 11x14 if my memory serves me right.

I can't count the many times I've missed a bargain. It's very understandable. Especially with autographs. It's better to be careful than sorry.

You were smart to be careful.

A decent John Wayne autograph on a piece of paper typically sells for $700-$900. Signed 8x10s start in the high-teens and go up. One recently sold for about $4,400 at RR.

If that's an 8x10, I've never seen a Wayne autograph that large, except on What's My Line?

And it's highly unlikely the photo and ink would be the same color.

The seller could have spent a minute on eBay and seen that $75 for any John Wayne autograph was way too cheap.

The odds of getting a bargain like that even when the autograph looks real in the image are tiny at best.

The odds are so slim you missed out on a great deal they'd make Twiggy look like Mama Cass.

Thank you Steve and everyone who responded. It is very impressive on how many autographs that some of you are great at. I have a handful at best.
